PROJECT VOID. (Based on the mobile game)

IT BARELY BEGINS

I stood up and walked over to Nicholas, before reaching him I looked back to see everyone else in the room signaling not to speak to him rather aggressively.
I wondered if he did anything to them while I was asleep.
When I got to him he looked up at me slowly with a blank expression and then his eyes glinted , I think it was relief?

"Glad you're up" he said almost with no emotion. "You don't seem very glad that I'm up" I said .
"Haha.....does he have to" Jake said back out of nowhere. I shot him an ugly glare as he glared back at me with annoyance. Nicholas looked at Jake before continuing what he was doing.

"Can I see if I can help with what you're doing?" I asked as I sat beside him, he tensed a bit before relaxing back almost as if he was uncomfortable at first.

"Trust me when I say you wouldn't be much help at the moment" he  smirked insulting me.
"Well excuse me , but I will have you know I'm much more helpful than you think I could be "
I pouted.
"This isn't a game Angela, and neither was this set up by the board this is fucking serious!  I can't have distractions when I'm trying to make a difference here ask Damian he knows exactly how this goes" He said selfishly.

"There we go, that's the real Nicholas " Damian winked at me trying to lighten the mood.

"What the hell are you talking about?! Does it look like I came to play around a potentially dangerous situation!? I'm not like you're admirers that need your validation to do what needs to be done!" I said coldly our gazes not parting as we stared at each other in anger.

I got up and started walking over to Jake who happened to have that signature smirk I was  used to wiping by now, till I heard a little chuckle behind me.

It was Nicholas laughing, he had the most adorable laugh ever.
It was deep but calming and his voice dripping from it made it that more enjoyable that I had to turn around to face him.
"What's so funny?" I asked less annoyed.
"I was wrong, I'm sorry for labeling you a distraction without having to see what you could bring to the table, guess I was just used to doing things solo" he chuckled giving me a reassuring smile.
I smiled back at him and walked back over to where he sat as I heard a snicker behind me but didn't bother to ask what it was about.

"Here" he dropped the map and his phone on the floor."you guys should come see this too you all could help" he called out to the rest. Everyone gathered around and took a look at what he was looking at.

"We were knocked out by a gas yesterday and honestly I'd call this attempted kidnap, cuz when I left Angela and the rest earlier yesterday, I went into a hall in one of the buildings to do some research till I saw a man in all black with a white shirt walking strangely. I thought I was so overreacting but still decided to follow him. We ended up back at the field I left but by the time I got to the campus field there were four of the same man I saw. They all looked identical, once this happened I realized that something was wrong, then  almost in the blink of an eye they appeared at around the corner of the wall you guys stayed at before you disappeared from sight. I got worried and screamed to you guys to get out of there but once that happened I was knocked out cold." He narrated.

"Well that makes some sense cuz we heard you call out to us and we couldn't see anything" Tiffany said.
" Yeah and since you said we disappeared out of sight although we were still outside that means we were concealed using a green screen "I thought as I rubbed my chin.

"Doesn't that only work for editing, genius?" Jake questioned.
"Yh good point " I thought.
"But there's also the ability of a green cover to be changed into scenes on-site using projectors isn't there?" Alyssa questioned.
"Yh that's true , that could be what happened " Damian added in .

"Whoever wants us , wants us bad to use technology to hide kidnap" Tiffany scoffed.
"Also , I've wanted to ask for a while , Jake, Nicholas......how did you guys get yourselves injured?" I asked curious.
Everyone  looked at the injuries.
"I was on my way to the hall in that building I was heading to when I felt a sharp pain as I passed a thick barked tree, when I looked at my leg it was bleeding as I stepped onto the concrete pathway, my blood dripping onto the concrete" he paused and looked at the ground thinking.." and I know you might not believe me but I dropped something as I checked out my injury so I walked back to pick it up then I realized my blood wasn't on the pathway anymore....... almost as if it ......never happened" he added.

My eyes grew wide in fear and shock as I remembered before the orientation how my blood disappeared from the wall I got scraped on. Was someone intentionally after us? And if so...why?

I turned to Jake waiting for his explanation. He just looked up at me with a disappointed expression " Sorry princess , but I found this injury on me when I woke up and Alyssa says I was the first to drop when the gas was released, maybe that has something to do with the injury, maybe I got hurt?"

"No.....you didn't " a firm voice told us . We all turned back to see  detective Stone walk in. We were all in shock not expecting her arrival.
"By the time you fell Mr. Thompson, whoever was after you all ,took a sample of his blood and when we got on the scene Mr. Perpetrator was out like he had never existed." She said her hands in her pockets her jaw clenched.

"I'm going to be very blunt, some one is after your asses , and feels like they can do whatever they want to get you, even while I'm around......the nerve " she said that last part beneath her breath.
"We're not completely sure if they want you alive or dead but it'd be a billion years too soon if they think they can take you from me" she smirked. "We're waiting on forensics for the nature of the gas-" she started.
"Chloroform " I said immediately "it's chloroform " .
"How'd you know?" She asked curiously.
Almost like deja Vu the feeling of passing out by chloroform came to mind like it had already happened once and I was too familiar with the gas, I shook these thoughts away.
"I just..........know, I'm not sure how...."
Everyone was silent before detective Stone smirked and said alright kid let's assume that for now, gather here's what's gonna happen from now on"
As we gathered round, Nicholas stopped me and asked " d'you wanna talk about what happened while you were asleep?" He said carefully coming closer to me.
"I'll think about it" I smiled as the  my mother's last words rang in my head letting a tear escape my eye, he wiped it gently with his thumb smiling at me............
