I had no idea Xander was that strong, but since he was able to fight with Jax it made since.
"I don't get the feeling that I would lose to him though. Ray."
Ray cleared his throat.
"I am a Knight with a fire affinity, my ratio is 5:2."
"Weak mana, but our aura is on par with each others like I thought. Lastly...Milo was it?"
Milo looked at me, I could sense malice from him. I think Jax could sense it too seeing as he went to grab his axe, but I held my hand out to signal to stop.
"I'm a mage with a ratio of-
"You know, I actually don't care. You can leave now."
Everyone looked at me surprised, and Jax burst out laughing. Milo clicked his tongue as he raised his wand at me.
"You lowly filth!! How dare you speak to me that way?! I will make sure you-
Jax rushed over and cut him in two pieces. Fortunately, Mya wasn't here so she didn't see it. The others had all different reactions but remained pretty calm.
"You didn't have to kill him Jax."
Jax laughed as he placed his axe back on his back.
"I didn't? He surely seemed like he was trying to kill you."
Ray stood up and walked over to us, but he wasn't about to attack, I could sense it.
"I apologize on behalf of my subordinate...his actions were-
"I don't care. If you're really sorry then go find us some food or something man, you guys stopped us from taking those bags we had."
Ray just walked off with Xander following him. Mya came back to the group and quickly began to talk with Iris, leaving Me, Adjest, and Jax.
Timeskip
"So, Muji, what's your class and ratio?"
"I'm an assassin with a 5:5 ratio."
"As a commoner? You're pretty interesting. What about your affinity?"
"Poison."
The three of us remained quiet, the burning wood of a camp fire was the only thing making noise.
"So, I've been meaning to ask, how do you two know each other? I'm sure Jax doesn't have the status to meet a princess, and last time I checked he apparently hated royals and nobles."
Jax laughed a bit.
"You're right. You see, I was born with incredible talent, I awakened at 10. Thinking I was the best human in existence I stormed the palace and demanded a fight with the king, which got me imprisoned."
Adjest shook her head.
"He actually awakened at 11, and although he did storm the palace he didn't make it past the Royal guard. They were going to execute him but I asked them to leave him alive, and from that day we sparred against each other frequently."
Jax clicked his tongue.
"It's still 71 to 70."
Adjest rolled her eyes.
"I should tie it up right now shouldn't I?"
"You can try."
Watching the two bicker reminded me of Kaia and Kyle.
It felt nice.
"I thought you didn't like Royals and nobility Jax."
"Adjest and Iris are exceptions."
Adjest smirked.
"Oh really now?"
"Don't get added to my hit list Adjest."
Adjest POV
"What about you Muji? You seem to be close with that Mya girl."
Muji looked at me before looking back into the fire.
"Her grandpa took me and my siblings out of a bad place. I'm forever grateful to him."
He seemed a bit sad when speaking, I wondered why.
"What happened?"
And this idiot Jax had to say something.
"Jax you can't just ask him something like that, it's probably very-
Jax and I both jumped back and reached for our weapons, but Muji just sat there.
"Why did you guys move?"
Sweat trickled down my forehead.
Muji's eyes...they looked terrifying, I was certain he was about to attack us.
I was certainly stronger than him...so why...
"Why do I feel like I'm going to die if he rushes at me?"
"Muji! What did you do?"
Muji's eyes returned to normal as he looked at Mya.
"I don't know. They just jumped for some reason."
Mya walked over and began to speak with him as I turned to Jax.
"I'm sure you noticed that too."
Jax laughed a bit, his hand still on his weapon ready to draw. However there was an emotion on his face I had never seen.
Fear.
"What the hell was that...I'm so curious I just want to lunge at him."
"Do you think you could win?"
"That's the scary part...I don't know."
"Neither do I..."
I looked back at Muji, he seemed fine now.
I didn't know what that was, but there was clearly something about this guy that was dangerous.
And I didn't want to find out what.
