Chapter 143 • Dates PT. 4

Start from the beginning

WILBUR:
"Sorry..." His lips curled down, "Have you told them how you felt?"

Y/N:
"No..."

WILBUR:
"Maybe you should." He shrugged.

Y/N:
"Maybe you should start the car because your date is hungry." I raised my eyebrows with an annoyed smile.

WILBUR:
"Sorry..." He sadly smiled then started the car, shortly driving off.

Along the drive, I had my gaze facing out the window. My family put me in a bad mood already. But Wilbur was right, if I wanted them to change, I needed to tell them my feelings.

Y/N:
"I'm sorry for being snappy tonight..." I mumbled.

WILBUR:
"It's okay. Family drama is understandable."

I sighed.

Y/N:
"So...where're we going for our date?" I tried changing the subject.

WILBUR:
"Well, figured we could get something quick before going to my main destination." He grinned.

Y/N:
"Where would your main destination be...?"

WILBUR:
"It's a surprise."

"Of course..." I thought with another sigh.

It wasn't clear to me why I was in such a bad mood tonight. Obviously, my family was annoying me a little, but it felt like it was more than that.

I just couldn't think of what it was.

Eventually, Wilbur drove us to my favorite restaurant. Instead of going inside, Wilbur got a bag to go. So, we ate our meals in the back of his car in the parking lot.

It left me confused as to why he ordered food just for us to eat it in his car.

Y/N:
"Thanks for the food..." I mumbled quietly while messing with my meal.

WILBUR:
"Your welcome. It would be a pretty bad date if I didn't get any food for us." He smiled.

I nodded slowly while staring down at my food.

WILBUR:
"Something's bothering you." He spoke up.

I shot my head up.

WILBUR:
"Wanna talk about it?"

Y/N:
"No...especially because, I don't know what's wrong..." I sighed.

WILBUR:
"Are you mad because I didn't get you flowers?"

My eyes widened a little.

WILBUR:
"Or are you mad we didn't dress up fancier? Or eat in the restaurant? Are you mad we're meeting so late at night?"

He read me like a book, but it still felt like he was missing one thing.

WILBUR:
"All your questions will be answered by the end of the night, don't worry." He smiled.

I nodded slowly, then took a bite of my meal.

WILBUR:
"Oh guess what? Tommy's parents want to adopt me." His lips curled up farther.

My eyes widened as I smiled.

Y/N:
"Really? That's amazing—" I raised my voice, "When is it all going to happen?"

WILBUR:
"I'm not sure yet but, they have to contact my foster mom." His lips curled down, "I haven't seen her in a while."

Y/N:
"Well, I'm sure everything will work itself out."

WILBUR:
"Me too...I haven't had a lot of hope for things in my life but, I have a lot of hope for becoming adopted." He cutely smiled.

After he spoke, I couldn't help but gaze at him for a few moments, taking in how handsome he was.
