Tears were falling now and we were both sitting on Irina her bed Marcus had her on his lap and he was stroking her hair while she was asleep

‘when I came by the dumpster I saw my mother her shoe lying on top of it, and this is gross, but her foot was still in it. we found body parts over the street and they were leading to my house, the killer came into the house while we were picking up my family’s body parts, my little sister her head was lying in her bed, on the cushion her face turned away from the door and you couldn’t see that the rest of her body was missing because she loved to sleep with a lot of teddy bears. But anyways, my parents were in their room, my father’s head was on the dresser and my mother was in the closet and this is going to sound horrible and it was disgusting so you don’t have to listen, but her eyes were taken out and they were put in the dresser next to her favorite necklace.’

‘why?’ I asked and he shrugged

‘that is one horrible story, well it really happened, but it is still horrible’

‘yeah, and it’s not over’

‘what do you mean?’

‘well, there was a message, I didn’t see it till after they were buried and that was four days later. I walked into my room and I went to shower, when I turned it on there was blood coming out instead of water. The water was coming again after three minutes, and then I turned the shower off, and I saw something written in wax on the ground. You wouldn’t see it if there was just water, so the killer was pretty smart.’

‘I don’t care if the killer was or is smart, he is an asshole for doing it, he should be burned alive, but what was written on the ground?’

‘it’s your fault that they’re dead, you should have gone out and party, you should have been here and protect you family’ my eyes were wide

‘it wasn’t you fault Marcus, he had the choice if he would kill them or not, he could have left a letter and just walk away’

‘but it is my fault’

‘didn’t you listen to me?’

‘yes I did, but it is true, I could have protected them if I was there’

‘your father could have protected your mother and sister, you’re only a child’

‘you don’t understand’

‘no I don’t, so explain’

‘no I can’t, you’ll find out eventually’

‘I can’t wait!’ I hissed to him ‘just explain it to me’

‘no, you can and you will wait.’ Marcus stood up and he put Irina carefully in bed he draped the blanket over her and he wiped his face with his hands angry, then he turned to me.

‘I shouldn’t have told you it was a mistake’ ‘why would you think that telling me is a mistake?’

‘because you are curious, you will not stop until you know the whole truth, and you know that this isn’t the whole truth.’

‘but what if I promise to wait till it is my time to know the truth?’

‘will you wait and not snoop around or ask the guys about it?’

‘no, I won’t, I’ll leave it, I won’t snoop around or ask the guys about it’

‘do you promise?’

‘I promise’

‘okay, I trust you.’

‘okay, thank you’ now it was getting awkward, I didn’t know what to do, he just told me one of his deepest secrets.
