I don't realize it, but a few hours pass.

By the time I finish my last report for the day, I peak outside and I see the sunset begin to cloud overhead. Since it is fall, basically wintertime, the sun goes down way quicker then I am used to.

I slump in my chair, not knowing exactly what to do. I could technically go home... but I don't really want to. I look around, my eyes wandering. I see many people diligently working, but I know they are just faking it. Chris hides his phone behind his monitor, texting someone. Hank only sits with his hands over his face, typing every once and awhile. Gavin sits in his little corner, still pissy. I peak around my desk, only to see Connor is not at his desk. His chair is empty, sprawled away from the desk.

Confusion fills my face, apparently very visibly. Chris turns around, and when he sees the look on my face, he asks what's wrong. "No, nothings wrong." I say, quietly. I try to imagine where he could possibly be, and how he slipped away so well. I take one of my earbuds out, trying to focus on the issue at hand. "You sure? Because you look like someone just hit you upside the head."

I nod, not really listening to his words. "Yeah.... sure Chris." He groans, knowing I'm not listening. I sigh, stumped. I feel a pit in my stomach, even when I know rationally he is perfectly okay. I just feel... abnormal.

After a few seconds of waiting, I see him come out of the bathroom.... Why...?

He calmly walks back to the desk, fixing his jacket along the way. When he notices me giving him strange looks, he looks around awkwardly. I mouth to him, "Why did you...??" He mouths back, "I was making a report to cyberlife." By the time I finish running over my thoughts, only more confused, he sits back down. I lean over, curious. "Why do you go to the bathroom to report..?"

He answers simply, shrugging. "Lieutenant Anderson gets freaked out by it, so he told me to go somewhere else." I squint, groaning. "Of course he does. You know, you should stop listening to him. He can get over his little snowflake phobias and figure it out himself." Connor only seems to sit on the thought before nodding, "Maybe, but I don't know if I should dare disobey him like that." I smile, understanding his attempt at sarcastic humor. "That's fair, it's a bit risky."

When I start to sink back into my chair, he asks, "Oh, did you need something? You looked like.. you were kinda searching." Immediately becoming awkward, I mutter a quick lie. "Yeah, do you have any new files on deviants that you need help with? I just finished mine and I'm bored.. ha........." He looks back at his desk, double checking before his answers. "No, I finished mine a few hours ago."

I stare at him in disbelief. "So what have you been doing all this time?!?" He smiles a little, like he is letting me in on a big secret. "Pretending like im working. Dozing off in my own thoughts." I almost want to ask how he can do that, because it seems abnormal for a robot to be able to have complex thoughts to contemplate on. But I stop myself, not wanting to push boundaries. "Yeah, that probably what im gonna be doing to."

I lean all the way back in my chair, sighing. I begin to think about what I want to do when I get home. Today is Friday, and I have the weekend off. For once. I think as soon as I get home, im going to lay in my bed with pounds of blankets, snacks, and watch a movie. LED lights on, maybe FaceTime a few friends. Aka, literally Chris.

I see he is still on his phone, so I text him.
