Weems cringed, shielding her little's ears.
"Okay, will she need a cast?"
"Yes, for about 4 weeks." The doctor gave the shapeshifter a sympathetic smile. "Does she want to pick out a colour?"
Larissa removed her hands from the sides of Wednesday's head.
"Darling, what colour cast do you want?" Giving her mother a "what do you think" look, Wednesday tapped her black dress.
"What a surprise." Smirking, Weems readjusted the little in her arms. "Black, please."
"Oooh, I'm sorry, but we don't have black right now. It's pretty popular. How about dark blue or purple?"
As if the day couldn't get any worse. Wednesday nodded in defeat, pushing her face back into Weems' chest.
"Alright then! Follow me!"
The headmistress carried her clingy little after the doctor. As they arrived in the room, she was told that she could sit on the table with Wednesday in her lap, which she gladly did.
They watched as the woman took a roll of what looked like gauze, soaking it in a bucket of water. Wednesday noticed as the woman held down the roll that she didn't take it out till the bubbles stopped. It reminded her of drowning, making her giggle quietly. Weems shrugged it off, checking her phone.
"Enid and Marylin are in the waiting room."
"Mmm." Wednesday said in reply, distracted by the doctor taking her hand, wrapping it.
After a few minutes, her arm was in the white material, "Now for the fun part! The color!"
Wednesday smiled, it means they were almost done. She knew this part well, having her leg broken by Morticia once or twice... a month. Thing would wrap her leg until she learned how to do it herself.
"And done!"
Wednesday blinked, not realising it was done. "Hungry." Is all she said, she squirmed trying to get off Larissa's lap. "Done now?"
"All done!" The doctor proclaimed happily! "And for being such a good girl, you'll get a present!"
The little wasn't quite in the mood for extending her hospital visit, but she watched in fascination as the doctor held her coat and took off one of the badges. Wednesday held out her good hand, and the woman put the black cherry pin from earlier in her palm.
"Oh, look how pretty that is! What do you say, Wends?"
"Tanks." She spoke around her pacifier, giving Weems the pin. "Mama help."
Larissa attached the pin to Wednesday's dress before getting down from the table with the girl still in her arms.
"Thank you for everything, you made this so much easier." She thanked the doctor, who smiled sweetly.
"No problem! You've got a lovely little girl." She squeezed Wednesday's arm, drawing a giggle from her.
Weems carried Wednesday back down the corridors and to reception, where they found Marilyn and Enid slumped in the waiting room chairs.
"'Nid, look!" Wednesday yelled, startling the half-asleep people. "I gots a pinnnn,"
Hopping down from her chair, Enid skipped over to her friend. She gasped as she looked at the shiny object.
"Mommy, I wanna break my hand too!"
Marilyn shook her head, "Do you really want to be here for another five hours, my love?"
Enid glanced at the pin and back to the woman. "Nope! I wanna watch Hello Kitty and friends!"
"Larissa, I'm sure you are both starving." The red head held up a Burger King bag. "Enid already ate, and tried to eat Wednesday's food too."
"But I'm still hungry!" Enid whined as she played with Wednesday's pin.
Larissa smiled, "Thanks. I'll eat in the car, this one wants milk though. I don't think she's in the mood for chewing right now."
Wednesday played with Enid on the floor while Larissa signed some papers before getting snatched up again.
"Go now?" Wednesday asked as Enid stood up with the colouring books.
"Yes, darling. Get ready though, it's wet outside." Larissa warned her, feeling the girl snuggle up to her. "Say bye to the lady at the desk."
The goth raised her good hand, holding up her finger with a smile. "Bye-bye!"
The receptionist growled as the two littles giggled. Enid being the only one who saw the gesture. Larissa pulled her coat around Wednesday, watching as Marilyn and Enid dashed to the car first to unlock it.
"Okay W, ready? Make sure your cast doesn't get wet."
Tucking her hand under Weems' jumper, Wednesday nuzzled closer to her caregiver as Larissa sprinted madly to the car. Enid was holding the door open, letting Weems climb inside.
"Didn't get it wet." Wednesday said, proudly holding up her dry cast.
"Good job, sweetie." Sitting in the backseat with the girl in her lap, Weems grabbed the blanket Marilyn kept in the car specifically for this reason, covering her chest up as she pulled off her jumper and unbuttoned her shirt.
Wednesday, having finally gotten what she wanted, nursed sleepily for a few minutes as Weems fed herself her burger. The little could barely stay awake though, so Larissa unlatched her and put her in her car seat, much to her protests.
"Sweetie, you're barely awake, go to sleep."
Kicking her legs angrily against the seat, Wednesday was about to yell something when Weems stuck a pacifier in her mouth.
"Wednesday, that hurts!" Enid said as she turned around to reprimand the goth. "And it's not very bonita of you."
"But I feew bonita!" She waved her cast in front of herself. Her arm fell slowly as she yawned. "Not tired." She pouted.
Enid rolled her eyes going back to her candy crush game. On her expensive new phone. The only thing she uses it for. Candy crush.
Larissa smiled, noticing the device, happy it was being used. "Go on and sleep, I promise I'll wake you up if something fun happens, okay?"
"Nooo." Wednesday moaned, laying her head down on Larissa's shoulder. She was quickly asleep, with a fistfull of fabric in her hand.
