Weems smiled as she watched her little giggle. She moved to the other ear, "Ah! And potatoes in this one?! I didn't know you were a farmer!" She booped the goth's nose. "Say Ahh!"

Wednesday stuck her tongue out, "Ahh!" The lady flashed the light on the back of her throat, before sticking a thermometer under her tongue, gently closing her mouth. The little one watched the doctor's every move, utterly obsessed with her. She had cute pins and badges covering her white coat which jingled with every move, and Wednesday couldn't stop staring at a black pin with a cherry on it.

The doctor noticed, and she smiled all-knowingly as she took out the thermometer.

"Looks good! Your temperature is perfectly normal. Now then, for the not so fun part." She glanced at Weems, gesturing at the little who was sitting cross-legged on the examination table. "You might want to hold her for this part..."

Larissa mentally prepared herself for the crying fit that was about to happen as she scooped Wednesday into her arms, careful not to touch her injured hand. She smiled brightly at the girl, bouncing her slightly.

"Okay Wends, can you show the doctor how well you can count to three?"

"Uh-huh! One, two, thr-" She didn't get to finish the number, as Weems hastily shoved a pacifier in her mouth. At the same time the doctor, who had been gently holding her injured hand, threaded their fingers together and quickly yanked them upright. Wednesday's muffled screams behind the soother and the crack of her fingers resetting were the only sound in the room.

After the ordeal, the doctor smiled softly at the little, who looked down at her hand. Tears streamed down her face, but she was silent. Wednesday tried to flex her hands but the doctor held them still.

"I'm going to put them in a splint, and we can get an x-ray done."

Larissa nodded, "Is there a place I can change her?" She felt Wednesday's bottom grow warm as soon as the woman pulled on her hand.

"Of course, go ahead and use the table here. I need to grab the splints and get the machine ready." She smiled brightly, taking off her gloves. "I'll be back in a moment."

Larissa laid the fussing girl down on the table, opening up her backpack and grabbing a clean nappy. She made quick work of changing Wednesday, hushing her muffled cries and whimpers. Once it was done, she picked her back up and held her against her chest.

"You were so brave, darling! What a big girl."

Wednesday sniffled, nuzzling into the woman's neck again. She mumbled something behind her pacifier about never going to the doctors again. Larissa rolled her eyes, knowing that was so far from the truth.

There was a sharp knock on the door before the Doctor came in, holding a clipboard.

"Okay, if you'll follow me? We'll go get an x-ray now, and if it's bad we'll put a cast on it, and you can pick the colour!"

Letting out a shuddery breath of distrust, Wednesday tried covering her ears with her hand and arm as Weems carried her down the hallway.

Placing her hand on a plastic plate, the doctor put a letter next to her hand. "Lay it flat, okay." She walked out of the room and there was a click. Coming back in, she moved Wednesday's hand again. Taking another image, this repeated a few more times until she got all the images she needed.

Weems came back into the room, picking up Wednesday. The girl laid her head back down, as they went back to their room.

"Well," The doctor began as she held up two films to the light. "You see this white line here and here?" She pointed to the pinky on her left, "These are hairline fractures. Fortunately they were not broken, but the dislocation caused swelling. On her ring finger," She pointed to the jagged line, in the middle of her bone, "This was a clean break fortunately. If it were any worse we may need to have surgery to put pins in her hand."
