A few days later, I get news that Carl is going to leave the hospital soon. I stayed with him for the rest of that night, all the way until they finally noticed I was still there.

I'm still tired, needing my hours of sleep back.

I drive Ruby to the place Hank told me to, and I see dozens of cop cars surrounding the area. When I get out, Connor and Hank greet me from across the street.

J-Walking, I cross the street. No one really seems to care.

"Shit guys, what's happened?" I ask, my arms shivering slightly from the drizzle of rain over me. Hank only sighs, " We are looking for a deviant android. Named Kara? I don't know, this dude said she kidnapped his daughter."

"Damn." I say, taking a deep breath in. I observe everything around me. A hotel, an abandoned house, a shithole of a backyard. I see Chris interrogating a man, who I presume owns this store we stand in front of.

"What happened here?" I mumble, not meaning to say it out loud. Connor responds, swiftly. "The android was said to have robbed the owner."

When I turn to look at him, he smiles. "Do you think she used the money for the hotel?" I ask. His eyes glance over to the hotel, then snap back to me. "Perhaps, but I don't know how they would have pulled it off."

He processes his thoughts for a moment, "A deviant, scared, running away. Almost caught by a store owner, they don't know where to go. Money stolen, they need to find somewhere to rest. Maybe the hotel, maybe the abandoned house. I don't know, but maybe the android didn't go far."

I turn on my heel, looking around. The citizens around us seem calm, joy filling their smiles. It relaxes me a little, to see peace around this chaos. I turn my head slightly so Connor can hear me better, "Is that why the cops are patrolling? So they can find the android?"

I can see him nod out of my peripheral.

I take a few steps forward, peeking around the store corner. I sigh, not feeling motivated at all. I turn back around, heading back towards the two. I shiver, clearly not wearing the right outfit for this weather. I have a hoodie and leggings on, I was not in the office when I was called in. I need a rain jacket or something, because God is it cold.

I lean over to Hank a little, "Wanna go get one of Gary's burgers after this?" I see a smirk appear on his face, a clear yes. I smile in my success, then lean back over.

The other cops around us seem to split off, but I don't move. I stick with the two goofballs, not exactly wanting to do my job. I lean against the wall, my hair falling backwards. Only stray hairs lay on my face, to which I blow away. I try for a few seconds, not quite getting it. When I finally grunt out of frustration and lean my head up, Connor is smiling at me.

A devious, silly grin.

"What?" I ask, the corner of my lips lifting ever so slightly. He nods his head no, "Nothing. Just looked like you were struggling."

I groan, "And you didn't help?"

I see his light flash yellow.

"No, that would be interfering personal space." He responds, simply and flatly. I roll my eyes, "You know your allowed to touch other humans right? I'm not gonna spread cooties to you." I laugh, crossing my arms.

I see Hank take a bite of some sort of snack, and he manages a few words in between. "Yes she will."

"Okay well screw you too." I say. He gives me a thumbs up back, and I can only blink.

I put my hand against my face, hiding my mouth from Hank. I whisper to Connor, "No I won't."

Hank yells mockingly, "Your bad at whispering!"
