"You always manage to surprise me Akaza."
He mumbled something like "says the right one..." but I was already too distracted to listen to him. Through the branches of the trees, I could see the starry night. It looked like there was no cloud near but I couldn't make out the whole beauty of the night sky because of the trees.
I retreated my head even further back, it's uncomfortable for my neck but the view was worth it. *I wish I could see all of it.*
Akaza POV:
*What is she doing now?*
All of a sudden she got completely silent and stared towards the sky as if there was anything interesting. She looked like she was about to fall over if she leaned back another millimeter. "What are you doing?"
To get my answers I asked her. I think she didn't expect me to talk to her now because she looked a little startled as her head shoot into my direction with the speed of light.
Her eyes were wide and they sparkled like the ones from those tiny humans.
"Look at the sky, the stars are so pretty tonight!"
She exclaimed. So, its really just that. This tiny and completely unimportant detail of everyday life fascinated her this much. The expression she held never once faltered like she sees the most beautiful thing in the whole world. I have seen the stars for decades and never once looked at them this intensely like her.
"That's ridiculous."
Although her whole attention lingered on the stars I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I don't know why but everything about her was captivating. Only watching her made me feel like I am in a heated fight with a strong opponent not knowing the outcome. She is such a distraction... I could not detect why I felt this strange excitement around her.
Such a random moment and such a boring thing to do but still she wore a smile that was brighter than any star. What a dumb thing to think.
"come with me." I stated without thinking about it. The next second I turned around and started to walk away.
"Wait! I wanted to look at them a little more!" Her answer sounded disappointed, but she still caught up to me.
My planned destination wasn't too far away so there was no need to hurry also, she would not be able to run after her outburst earlier. *Why do I think about her wellbeing?!* a defeated sigh left my mouth.
One short glaze to my right side told me I was correct with my assumption. Even though she tried very hard not to show it there were many signs from her body that it reached its limit. Her breath was ragged, she got slower from time to time, and her heart rate increased. A normal human wouldn't notice these tiny details but as a demon my senses were able to take in these indicators. After that all my thoughts were in sync again and there wasn't a moment of denial or questioning.
"Are we there soon?"
She was the first one to break the comfortable silence while walking. *She isn't curious about where we are going, I could kidnap her at the moment. So this women really trusts me in a strange way I guess.* A weird feeling took over my body it wasn't essentially a bad feeling but it was odd. *She really is distracting*
"Only a few minutes and we are there."
"Okay."
The silence returned and after some more time of walking we reached the end of the forest and were located nearly on top of the mountain. There was an open field of grass that led to a cliff.
Y/N POV:
We stepped out of the forest and I couldn't believe my eyes. In front of me was a wide field of fresh green grass, lightly shimmering because of the moonlight. It swayed back and forth because of the warm spring breeze. As I took a few steps further I noticed that the grass field ended abruptly some meters further. It turned out to be a cliff and under it was a beautiful mountain see.
The wide and open space made it possible for me to look at the sky in any direction and not being distracted by random branches.
I let out a breath I didn't notice I was holding. "It's so beautiful..."
This view was what I wished for while dreaming about watching the stars. My eyes were watering a little because finally something I wanted was happening after such a long time I was able to just enjoy the moment.
"I thought you might like it here."
He said nonchalant. I turned my head into his direction and gave him my biggest smile. "I love it."
With that I once again focused my whole attention towards the sky. I wanted to stay here forever and watch this peaceful scene. My body was still exhausted, so I decided to sit onto the grass. I pulled my knees to my body and hugged them close.
After a short time I herd movement beside me. Akaza went to sit there beside me. "Are you always this distracted?"
"No but right now I don't have to be careful."
"Trusting me won't safe your life, we are still on opposite sides." He simply said with closed eyes, trying to brush off my comment to not seem vulnerable like the last time he flushed. Now he stayed contained but on his cheeks there was once again a faint red color. I looked at him closely, to confirm my assumption. Meaning I leaned in his direction and coming closer to his face.
"But that didn't stop you from saving my life several times. Now you are only denying facts." I chuckled when his brows furrowed, and his face turned even more red. It is cute when he acts like a innocent child not able to accept his feelings and actions.
"I still don't know why you did everything, but I have to say thank you."
This sentence was honest and I wanted to say it to him much earlier but there wasn't a good moment to do it just right. After that I turned my head in front of me once again and at the same time I let it drop onto his shoulder because I was drained and needed some rest. It seemed like the perfect thing to do in my mind.
He stiffened at the sudden and unexpected contact but relaxed soon after again.
"I just felt like it that's all and I already said you don't have to thank me."
A smile danced onto my lips remembering the night he told me that: "But I still want to and I will do it again."
"You stubborn women."
A yawn left my mouth, I was getting really tired after this long night of just running and fighting. This short moment of rest showed the effects this night had on my body and it was weighting me down. My eyes wanted to stay open and appreciate the view even more.
"Just sleep if you're tired." I heard him say, his voice was different from our normal conversations, it was more calm and quieter than usual, almost like he didn't want to startle me. Not even 5 minutes later I was completely asleep.
