Puzzled, he observes me. His light flickers again to yellow again, but flashes back in an instant.
I quickly waltz my way out of there, feeling the stare on my back like knives.
Oh. Sorry, that was bad timing.
I head towards Ortizo's body, widening my eyes at the scene. I count...
28 stab wounds?!?!
This deviant really had it out for him. Which to be fair, I would too. So far, this guy just seems like a loner who abused his android.
I take a peek around the rest of his body, trying to fit the pieces of the puzzle together. One of my strengths is being able to solve a good riddle, and this is certainly one of them.
An android has programming. Impossible to break, unless there is a force that acts upon it. Newton's first law, "An object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force." The deviant had no reason to act out, viciously attack its owner.
Unless the owner hurt him first.
I look around for more evidence. Chairs are knocked over, clearly a struggle. A knife is missing from the kitchen set, red ice is spread out all through the house.
Not to mention the red ice that was all up in the victims mustache.
Carlos, clearly 'under the influence', attacked the android. But what happened after that?
I see left over cigarettes everywhere, but no ash trays. So where did he put out the fires?
Perhaps Carlos abused the deviant in all sorts of ways, including burns, and the deviant snapped. But the question now, is where did he go?
By the time I get to Hank, Connor is already discussing his theory. His pieces fit right into my idea, and I slowly connect all the information.
I interrupt them mid sentence, "Connor, have you seen any blue blood traces anywhere? Or any other way to track the deviant?"
Hank sighs, "Look, we are trying to discuss the case here. Trying to figure out what happened."
"I already know what happened, you douche." I mumble, "Carlos clearly abused the android. For fucks sake, there's red ice everywhere. This guy clearly didn't take care of anything, so what makes you think he took care of his android?"
Clearly I have their attention, because the two men are staring deep at me. "The struggle started in the kitchen-"
"Then the deviant tried to protect itself. That's why the chairs are knocked over." Connor says, finishing my thought. "Yes.." I whisper. "Exactly! They fought, and ended up in the living room. So, back to what I was saying," I say, irritated. Hank gives me only a side eye. "Connor, can you still see blue blood? There is fresh blood near the body, but I can't see anymore. It's disappeared by now."
"I can..." With no further explanation except a nod, Connor begins following some invisible line. Chris comes up behind me, "Well your just so smart, aren't you?" I feel my personality click back, my investigative mind trailing off. "And who asked you?" I respond, not making eye contact. I stare at the android, following something that I can only wish to see.
After a few seconds, he grabs a chair from the kitchen. Hank does his complaining, but he quickly shuts up after a minute or two.
"Lieutenant, It's up here!"
I come into the office a little late that night, morning, whatever it is. I had to go report our findings while Connor, Hank, Chris, and Gavin took the deviant to the investigators room.
