"Y/S/N," I tried once more, looking to her, but she was exchanging looks with her people and it made me nervous.
My heart dropped when she looked back to me and asked, "Where is it, Y/N?"
I opened my mouth, shocked. "What are you doing?"
I tried to stand up, but the guard before me flicked off the safety from his gun, forcing me to stay kneeling. I looked back up to my sister, expecting her to intervene, and when she didn't, I realised what was happening.
"Your home, the community," she expanded. "Where is it?"
My deepest fear had come true. Alicia had been right. It didn't matter who I was – Y/S/N had changed for the worse. I'd lost her. And now she was after my home.
"No," I told her, trying to hide my hurt. "I didn't come for this. I only wanted you, Y/S/N. And if you're not coming, then forget it. I'll go."
"No way," the guard muttered, tempted to pull the trigger. "Where is it?"
"Just tell them," Y/S/N said with encouragement. "Then we'll go together. You can stay with us. We'll be together again."
Tears brimmed my eyes. "This isn't how I wanted it. I'm not letting you destroy my home. Not like you've probably done with so many other innocent people."
Suddenly a gun was smacked across my face, sending me to the ground. My belongings were stripped from me as I struggled to open my eyes and rid the dizziness.
"Grab her," I heard my sister say, before hands pulled me up and dragged me into a clearing by the building.
I looked around, finding my sister's eyes as two guards held me upright. She looked apologetic, but I didn't believe it. She wouldn't be doing this if she didn't want to. How had I lost control of her so bad?
"Just tell us the location," she tried again, voice monotonous, like this didn't phase her in the slightest.
"I'm begging you not to do this," I said with tears in my eyes. "It's me, Y/S/N. It's not a stranger you're hurting. It's your sister."
"Fuck, Y/N!" she shouted, frustrated. "Just say it! Don't you want us to be okay? We need the supplies!"
I frowned, her face becoming blurry as my tears spilled. When she realised I wasn't going to say anything, she nodded to a guard who then punched me hard across the face, leaving me with stars in my eyes and blood in my mouth. Still, I stayed quiet, and then another punch came, and I was blinded by the pain.
"Just tell us!" my sister screamed at me, but I couldn't hear her properly, not through the blood rushing in my ears.
Another punch came, this time to my gut, and I would have collapsed if it weren't for the men holding me upright. A metallic taste was on my tongue as I struggled to look up, hoping to look my sister in the eye and show her what she was doing.
"Wait," her voice said, before another punch could come, and then she stopped before me, tilting my head up to see her. With a softened expression, she said, "Where is it, Y/N?"
The physical pain I felt right now was nothing compared to the pain in my chest when she looked at me without an ounce of sympathy. To her, I was just another person to steal from. Our relationship meant nothing, and it broke my heart.
"Mum and dad would be so disappointed," I managed to get out, breathlessly, and it only made her more angry as she let go of me and stood back.
"Again," she ordered, and the beating continued.
They landed a few more hits in before an echoing gun shot went off in the distance, making everybody stop.
"The hell was that?" Y/S/N said angrily, before directing her words at me. "Did you bring company?"
