Soulmates

Zee had been strolling down the busy street, mind swirling with thoughts of the past and the future, when they spotted the familiar figure. They held their breath, their heart pounding in their chest, unsure of what to do. Should they approach? Or should they turn and run in the other direction?

Zee was taken aback when he saw Nunew, his ex and so did Nunew. They both felt pretty awkward to meet each other again. But it definitely feels overwhelming to meet ur ex by chance.

Before they knew it, they were standing face to face with Nunew, their old flame. The years seemed to have passed in the blink of an eye, yet so much had changed. Their hair was shorter, their eyes filled with shadows, but the warmth in their gaze remained, though shrouded in pain.

They stood there silently for what felt like eternity, but for a moment the air was thick with the memories of the past. Then, slowly, Nunew reached out and grasped their hands tightly, the only sound the steady rhythm of their heartbeats.

In that moment, everything melted away. The pain of their breakup, the misunderstandings and regrets, all seemed distant and unimportant. In that moment, the only thing that mattered was them.

Since it's been years since they met, Zee thought it would be better to have a chat to catch up, right? Why not? After all, they used to be lovers and obviously there's no hate between them. Thanks to their breakup which was subtle and did not leave any hatred. So, they decided to catch up while drinking coffee.

'' You still like hot chocolate?'' Nunew nodded at Zee's question. '' I still like everything that's sweet.'' They both chuckled. For the first two hours, they are just making small talks. No one dares to bring about their unresolved past, being afraid that things would turn awkward all of a sudden. After a few conversation, they both feel comfortable with each other again, like they used to. That makes them reminisce the past and missed the things they had.

They both stopped talking for a few minutes to have their drinks.

After a long yet comfortable silence, finally, Nunew spoke. "I never forgot," they said softly. "I never forgot what we had."

Those simple words stirred something in Zee's heart. That same flame they'd felt years ago stirred anew, and they felt their walls slowly crumble down. They smiled, feeling their shoulders relax. ''Me Neither''

"I know, it's not that easy to forget since we did almost everything together.'' Zee replied with a smile.

Nunew nodded, their eyes locking with Zee's in silent understanding. In that single moment, words became unnecessary. Everything they needed to say was conveyed in that gaze. Of course, at this point, they want to go back to the past and fix everything. But, will it be possible? Neither of them is sure of that.

If only they could lower their tempers and tried to understand each other till the very end...., if only they were patient enough to resolve......., if only they were more mature...., they would not be seperated for years. Now everything that mattered in the past seems unimportant at all. What matters most is that they've found each other again. Just seeing a glimpse of one will make the other fall in love with them once again. This was how strong their bond used to be....that they cannot easily forget their old flames.

The air was heavy with emotions and they both instinctively knew that they were meant to be together. Through the gazes, they both noticed that after all these years, both of them do not seem to move on.

Nunew let out a deep sigh, mustering all the courage he has to say this. "Let's start again," At first, Nunew was a bit hesitant as it would be too sudden if he says this now. However, he finally said as he decided to give them a second chance, and he was overwhelmed by all the emotions he's now feeling.

Even the universe let them meet for the second time. So, why not? There's no reason why Nunew shouldn't give it a go, right? Also, back then, they used to promise to each other that, even after their breakup, if they managed to meet again or if they both still feel the same, they would try again for the second time.

"Yes, I would love to" Zee replied, smiling through tears of joy. "If you don't say this, I'm gonna be the one to initiate that topic. There's not a single day where I don't think of you, I missed you Nu''

''I missed you too....Hia'' they embraced each other for a long time, them craving the hug of each other. It feels so cozy and warm to finally hug the person you've been longing.

Hand in hand, they left the cafe and walked away into the sunset, leaving their past behind and embracing their newfound love. Together, they had found the strength to overcome their pain and to move on.

A tender reunion had been found, and with it, a future filled with optimism and hope. This time, they vowed to themselves that they would never repeat the same mistake that had seperated them for years. Finally, they found each other again. Yes, they both now believe that they are actual ''SOULMATES".
