The original game of Grach-Bal involved three players.
It is possible to play a three player version of Hexapod Chess. It requires pieces in three different colours. It is played occasionally, but is not as popular as the the two player version.
Kings are captured rather than mated, and the pieces of defeated players remain on the board as inactive obstacles.
