Nancy nodded in agreement, "Okay. Yeah, no. I can live with that. I'm not too fond of it either, but I like this compromise. This way both of us can get what we want. Now moving on to my 2nd condition, I wanna go to school on my own which means no chauffeuring. I have my car and I know how to drive. Easy."
"You serious?! This is not easy! It's a 3-hour drive and you hate driving. Just 'cause I admire your need to be independent, doesn't mean I would let you drive for three hours and exhaust yourself. Sorry, kid. But that's a firm no."
Nancy huffed, but she had no way but to listen to him 'cause he was right, she hated driving and exhausting herself for no reason.
So she nodded and asked, "But I get to decide when I get home. If I wanna hang around or if I decide to join any clubs at the school, I will be late. Pls don't say no to this, I'll be having a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent watching over me all the time, so I'll be double safe, because for some reason you said you knew for sure that I would be safe in this particular school that's almost 260 kilometers away from here."
Tony took some time to think about this. She was right. She will be safe around a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent appointed by Nick Fury. He also knew that his daughter would be the safest inside the compound. But he can't keep her inside for a long time. He knew she would break out, just like her aunt. "Alright, kid. You're right. No matter the reason, you have to be home by 8.30 or 9, even with a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent around to keep you safe. But I will be tracking you everywhere you go." he said.
"Have you ever stopped? Yes, I know. I know for a fact that you were the one who informed Principal Reyes whenever I snuck out of school. It wasn't that hard to figure out."
"And yet, you still did."
"What can I say, I'm a genius like my dad." she shrugged with a smirk.
"Okay. Now that you've voiced your conditions, I'd like to tell you my rules. It's simple really, No.1, No using powers in public. No. 2, No one needs to know about Roxy. No. 3, Under no circumstances will you be inviting anyone for a sleepover in your 'house', considering the Avengers compound is your 'house'. And yes, you can go to others' houses for sleepovers or parties after letting me know and giving me the location. No. 4, You will not be revealing your true identity to anyone 'cause you can trust them with your secrets. No. 5, I know Pepper has already told you this, but still, you will not be using the main parts of the compounds or the main entrance until I say so. The same goes for seeing or talking with others in the compound. I know how restricting it is inside the compound--"
"You have no idea how much." she interrupted in a taut voice.
Tony continued not bothered by her interruption, knowing it was a habit of hers he got used to, also one of the traits she inherited from her mother. "--but you can do whatever you want in here," he said gesturing to his apartment, "and if you follow my rules, you can have free rein outside of the compound too. Again, only if you follow my rules." he said to his daughter in a firm voice, "Am I making myself clear?"
She sighed and said, "Yes sir. There is no way I can argue my way out of a few rules, can I?"
"Nope. Not a chance."
"But don't you think all these rules of yours sound more like grounding than actual rules?"
"Trust me, Sunshine, it'll be a lot worse when you're grounded. But let's hope it doesn't come to that, shall we?"
"Sure, Dad. If you say so." Nancy said in a defeated, low voice.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y. switch on the TV." Tony said and clapped his hands once as soon as it switched on, a command to mute it. Apparently, all the TV news channels were talking about Wanda and the events that took place in New Jersey.
