ONE MONTH. A WHOLE MONTH OF PURE bliss for Devyn and Marcus had gone by, and they felt like nothing could make them happier. Marcus had actually acted on his words and become a better person in their relationship, and Devyn had started to get used to him being around after months of him being absent.
"How's Tee?" Devyn asked after she yawned, stretching her arms as she walked down the stairs to the kitchen where Marcus was making lunch.
"She fell asleep about half an hour ago, hopefully she doesn't wake up until dinner's done," he smiled once he saw her. Devyn always had that effect on him.
Marcus placed a plate of food in front of the woman, smiling back at her as she said her thanks. As they say down to eat, making small talk along the way, an idea came into Marcus' head, and he quickly picked up his phone.

A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER, and Tiana was safely at Jadon's house. Now all Marcus needed to do was ask Devyn to accompany him to dinner.
He was already dressed for the occasion, if she said no then he would simply go to dinner by himself ─── the reservation was not cheap.
"Hey, Marcus, have you seen my─── Ooh, why are you all dressed up?" The woman of the hour interrupted herself upon seeing her ex lover looking at himself in the mirror.
Marcus wore an all black customised suit that his mother had gifted to him, his initials tailored very precisely into the cuffs of the blazer. He paired it with some Prada boots from two seasons ago that Devyn gave to him for Christmas.
Suddenly, Marcus' hands were all clammy as he struggled to find the words that he so desperately wanted to say. Instead, he took a moment to take in Devyn's beauty. She was only wearing a Nike branded jumper with some leggings, but it was Devyn; she could look good anyhow.
"Hello? Marcus?"
"Oh, right, um..." It was genuinely a now or never moment. And Marcus knew that if he chose never, he'd be hearing certain words from Jesse and Jadon.
"Would you like to accompany me to dinner later on in the evening? Wow, that sounded a lot more formal than I intended. You don't have to say yes, though I'd really like you to, you can say no, I'll be quite upset though───"
"Marcus." Devyn's soft giggle interjected the taller man out of his ramble as he looked at her. She held a lopsided smile as she gazed back at him. Slowly, Devyn walked up to where he stood, and took his hands into hers.
Marcus silently thanked God that Devyn couldn't hear how hard his heart was beating in that moment.
"I would love to go to dinner with you."
