Daniel went on and on about his "bestie squad" and how they added someone he didn't like. Seeing them talk made Alex proud and sad. He was proud because he helped his mom raise the kids. But he was sad because he knew his dad was missing out. His dad was their for most of his life until he turned 9. His dad would stay in a different city for work and only come home for 3 days. Then he moved to the city to be closer to home. But that was what he was told in reality his dad didn't want to help his mom with rent and so they had to move back to the big city. Then on his 12th birthday they fought and got a divorce. It didn't hurt him that much but his siblings got really hurt. But up until that year his brother stopped wanting his dad but his sister still loved him and wanted to be with him at all times which was hard.
