I'll ignore the fact that her voice sounded like a grown man on drugs because she hasn't spoken since forever well to me at least

I sit down as she finishes eating the plantains

Progress.

I'm so happy I don't know what to do with myself I'm glad she's doing better than yesterday

She's been in the hospital for three days in less than seven days it will make a year since we've been together

In her mind weren't together because I left but she doesn't understand yet and I'll explain to her as soon as she's better

I close my eyes praying

"Fada God thank yuh fi mek she utter couple words to mi even though ano weh mi wah hear but she talk to mi at least nah mek yuh know mi grateful nah rush yuh but mek we talk and ting mi miss her a lot so just continue fi heal har and mek har get betta Amen,"

I open my eyes to see her looking at me usually it would be a blank expression but she's smiling

She's actually smiling

She burst out laughing I look at her confused

A wah so funny?

Hearing her laughter makes me feel comfort deep down into my dark soul it's like a light is shining somewhere inside changing the aura I feel

She laughs like she's watching a funny video I'm not sure what she's laughing about but I smile

She stops wiping her tears as a permanent smile is on my face

"What's funny," I ask

"You," she answers shocking me

The little boy In me wants to run around the building advertising that my girlfriend is finally talking to me

"Me?. What is funny about me,?" I ask curiously

"Your facial expression wen yuh close yuh eyes," she mumbles

Weh she a talk bout?

"Wen yah pray ediatt," my subconscious says rolling his eyes

Oh

"You're smile is so pretty," she says as my smile widens

"Thank you"

"Yours is absolutely beautiful,"

"So I've heard," she says shrugging still smiling slightly

She's getting there

"Thank you," I say as she looks at me confused

"For what,?" She asks

"Talking to me," I say as she smiles

She doesn't know how I feel right now knowing that for the longest while she wasn't even saying a word to me now she's saying sentences and responding to me when I talk

"I'm tired but I'm alright," she says breaking the silence I look at her

"You asked how I was when you came in the room," she says as I nod

"Physically or mentally,?" I ask

"Both,"

"As tired as I am physically I can't sleep a good hour this bed is comfortable but I just can't sleep," she says as her smile drops

I get up walking towards her I take the tray off putting it on the table I fix the bed and pillows

"Can I lay beside you,?" I ask as she nods
