"Sniffles"
As I hear the sounds
I take a breathe
Something snaps
Inside my heart
A trigger is pulled
And something starts
The desire to heal
What has been torn apart
I ask a question
They're lying with no doubt
I wait a while
As I hear the sounds start up again
My heart refuses
To let them frown
I ask again
Filled with worry
This time
They speak the truth
Not leaving any details out
"Alternates"
Most nights
Unaware
I shift to another world
That is usually in despair
Many alternate realities
None seem the same
An apocalypse,
A shooting,
A sleepover with a wicked game,
None of these worlds live in bliss
Instead they live in this
This world of evil
Where all is wrong
One where it seems,
Nobody really gets along
Some don't worry me,
I'll usually forget those one rather fast
But other alternates
They terrify me
As I worry about the differences
That one here has,
With the one in the other world
A bad dream
That's what they claim it is
But I know it couldn't have been that
It felt too real
The emotions,
The confusion,
The pain and agony,
Those are not mere dreams.
They're the experiences of another reality.
