Gusu has always been a quiet place. But it was never gloomy.
Despite the three thousand rules, the atmosphere in Cloud Recess was actually refreshing and peaceful.

Well, it was but not now. The peace in Cloud Recess has shattered ever since their second master left home.

' Left home ' should not be the right words because everyone believes Lan Wangji will come back, they just needs to wait.

"The second young master is pretty unpredictable "

"Yeah, who can say he might never come back"

"What do you mean never come back ? His home is in Cloud Recess, where will he go"

"Aiyah! I was just saying."

" I heard it was the Yiling Patriarch who kidnapped the Second young master Lan, is it true ?"

The disciples who were gossiping just now, almost jumped out of their skin.
They were so engrossed in their discussion, they didn't even notice when Lan Xichen came and stood behind them.
'As expected of sect leader Lan', they thought
'He really knows how to hide his smell'

They bowed their heads apologised and hurried away.
Lan Xichen had that peaceful smile on him, but they knows better than to get deceived by that.

Lan Xichen shook his head and made his way to Hanshi. He knows he can't control rumours, they have probably spread throughout the cultivation world already.
He is not worried about the rumours, but he is worried about his brother.
Both Lan Xichen and his uncle tried to send spiritual messages to Lan Wangji but to no avail. Those messages never reached Lan Wangji, he would have answered otherwise.

His uncle suggested sending someone to the Burial Mounds but what if it angered the Patriarch more, he is surely angry at Lan Wangji's sudden visit.
If they asked other sects for help that would mean telling them about the marriage proposal and everyone will surely get the wrong idea about their sect.
They really don't have any other way but to wait. Lan Xichen just prayed that his brother is alright.

A young man in white robes called, still trying to catch his breath

"Sect Leader - Second young master is back"

Lan Xichen never reacted this fast in his whole life.

Lan Wangji was in Jingshi, folding his clothes. He stood up and bowed when Lan Xichen came in.

"Brother", he greeted

Lan Xichen pulled him close. Then looked at him like he is inspecting him from head to toe.

His brother came back in one piece.

"Wangji, you are back"

Lan Wangji nodded

"How was -"

"You should start preparing for a wedding"
His ears became bright red

Lan Xichen gasped, he never thought--- well as long as his brother is happy.

"Good for you Wangji"

"Wei Ying said he will send another proposal, he will confirm the day and time there"
