That one night

Part 3

You go through the paddock entrance and then follow Sarah down the paddock to the Ferrari hospitality. She shows you around the hospitality and then leads you down a corridor towards the driver rooms. She knocks on the door which says Charles drivers room. You feel a lump forming in your throat when charles opens the door. You look at Olly who is extremely excited and confused as to why we are standing in front of Charles Leclerc. Your guest are here Sarah says looking at Charles. Okay thank you he says. Come in you can sit anywhere Charles says as Sarah walks away. He moves away from the door and you walk in holding Olly, he then shuts the door behind you as you sit down on a sofa.

You put Olly next to you on the sofa. Mummy he whispers. Yes u say looking at him. Why are we in a room with Charles leclerc he asks you. You look at him and the only thing you could think off was saying you were friends with him. Mummy's friends with him u say. Okay he says looking at his dinosaur again. So how are you Charles asks. Good you say, how are you. Good thank you he says. Thanks for inviting us here you say looking at Olly. It's my pleasure he says. So whose that little guy Charles asks pointing at Olly. This is Olly my son you say rubbing his head gently. Your probably one of his favourite drivers you say. He is my favourite Olly says, he's the best. You smile as you look at him. Well it's nice to meet you charles says smiling. Olly smiles and nods his head like crazy. Calm down crazy u say smiling at him. So Olly how old are you Charles says. 4 Olly says holding 4 fingers up.

You see Charles face change and slowly put the pieces together and then you watch as his mouth opens wide. You look down at the floor while Olly starts playing with your phone you gave him when you sat down. You look up from the floor and see Charles still sat there with his mouth open. You look him in the eyes and just nod your head at him hoping he gets the idea which he does. You decide to just let him process it and watch what Olly's doing for a while until he finally says something. Why didn't you try and contact me he says looking at you. You look up and look at him,because we had one night Charles and when I woke up you were gone and then when I found out I didn't have the guts to try and contact you and if I had managed to get in contact with you I didn't know what to say u sigh. Okay he says nodding his head. So I managed to not know I had a child for 4 years and now I know he says. Pretty much you say, sorry about that.

Look you don't have to come and be in his life bearing in mind it was one night,plus we have been fine for the past 4 years but I feel like you should know now at least now you have met him. Of course I want to, I have already missed the first 4 years of his life and I'm not missing anymore Charles says. Charles I want you to actually think about this u say. You have a job where you don't have much time to see him but I'm not going to keep you from seeing him if you want to but I just want you to think about this properly it's a big thing having to look after a kid you say. I have and I want to be in his life Charles says. You nod, okay but we have to sort out a way to slowly introduce you into his life because we can't just go to him and say here's your dad who has been away for the past 4 years and didn't know you existed you whisper. Okay Charles says we can sort that out later after FP3 he says. Great you say.

Charles gets ready for FP3 and then he takes you and Olly down to the garage to watch FP3. You walk in and get given 2 sets of headphone so you can hear what's going on and you then watch as Charles gets into the car and drives out on track. The whole time Olly has a huge smile on his face. After FP3 Charles takes you and Olly back up to his drivers room. Did you enjoy that Olly you say looking at him. Yes he says clapping his hands. You give Olly his iPad and he starts playing a game on it. So how are we going to do this you ask. I was thinking we go out for dinner somewhere tonight and then after the dinner we take him to build a bear the next day and then tell him after we get an ice cream Charles says. Good idea you say, I'll book a restaurant near the hotel that we are in. Okay he says.

You grab your phone and ring a restaurant near the hotel and book a table while Olly shows Charles one of his games on his iPad. After a while Charles has to start getting ready for Qualifying he then takes you down to the garage again and you watch qualifying. Charles comes P3. After he's done with his interview you head back up to his drivers room. You give him your phone number so you can message him the details for the dinner and you and Olly say bye to him. You then head to your car get Olly into his seat and then start driving back to the hotel.
