They had been walking for at least an hour until they finally found their way back to the main camp area. Courtney and James walked through the campground but mysteriously nobody was there.

"Hello?" Courtney called out.

Nobody answered. Courtney called out again. Still no answer.

"James, where is everyone?" Courtney asked worriedly.

"Why would I know?" James yelled.

"I don't know! Who else am I supposed to ask?"

"Come on, let's go check the cabins." James said exasperatedly as he led Courtney towards his cabin.

James slowly opened the door to cabin #4. He didn't see anyone. He walked inside and Courtney followed him. Everything was there. Except for the people.

"...What's going on?" Courtney asked.

"I don't know, but no one's here." James replied.

James cautiously walked into the bedroom. No one was there. He went to grab his backpack from the bed.

James pulled his phone out from the bag's front pocket. He had an alert. There was some new virus, thought to be an extreme variant of some sort of rabies. It caused the infected to act violent towards people and animals while their bodies slowly decayed. Everyone was advised to stay inside and not to interact with the infected. The others had probably been evacuated. James showed Courtney the alert on his phone.

"You're telling me that there's a zombie apocalypse going on right now?" Courtney asked in disbelief.

"Well, not exactly-" James was cut off by a growl from outside of the cabin. James motioned to Courtney to be quiet as he slowly made his way over to the door. Through a window James saw a bear. This wasn't any normal bear though. James could see pieces of flesh missing from it's body. The bears dead eyes stared at him through the window.

This can't be happening James thought. But it was.

"James...?" Courtney whispered. "Is that bear a zombie?"

James just nodded in response.

The duo slowly backed up from the door and began inching back towards the bedroom, but the bear had seen them, and it launched itself at the door. Courtney grabbed James' bag from off the ground and ran to the washroom with James following behind her. She quickly locked the door.

"What the hell are we going to do?" James asked.

Courtney thought for a moment and looked around.

"James, look! There's a window we could climb through. We could escape from there."

Courtney leaped off the sink to the window. James awkwardly followed, barely fitting through the window. The duo ran towards the parking lot at the campsite while the bear was still in the cabin.

James tried one of the car doors. It was locked. He tried another, also locked. Incredibly, the third one was thankfully unlocked, and someone had left their keys in the truck. James hopped in the driver's seat and Courtney sat in the passengers. James fumbled with the keys before starting the vehicle. It was a 2008 Chevrolets Silverado. James started the truck, and they were off.

"This is the best birthday I've ever had." James announced sarcastically.

"It's your birthday?" Courtney asked.

"Yep. Turning 17," James said.

"This whole thing kinda sucks but," Courtney stifled a laugh. "Happy Birthday, man!"
