♡ 25 | Mourning What's Gone

Something snaps within you at the mention of your parents and Draco. Voldemort speaks so heartlessly. You strike an attack just like you had with Lucius. A lightening bolt leaves the end of your wand tip to meet Voldemort's. But you're easily knocked back by Voldemort's strength. Cedric hurries to your side, kneeling down to hold you up. 

You force yourself to stand with your wand in front of you again. "He's dead!" You cry out as your eyes begin to gloss over and tears try to force their way free. Audible gasps of breath can be heard from Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Quickly everyone stands by one another with their wands out. "This ends here Voldemort. I'll get revenge for all the innocent lives you've taken!" You shout out with a broken heart. 

"There's no way you'll win now Voldemort!" Harry adds in. Five bolts of lightening come from yours, Cedric's, Harry's, Ron's, and Hermione's wand. Everyones bolt turns a bright red while Voldemort's is a bright green. You grind your teeth together, narrowing your eyes on the foul man. Inch by inch does the group move forward. 

It's beyond your imagination how powerful Voldemort is to take on five students. But with your combined strength, you notice Voldemort staggering back. "No amount of revenge can bring them back to life you fool!" Voldemort yells out. "You'll never find peace even if I die!" 

"IGNORE HIM!" Cedric shouts out beside you. "WE DON'T NEED SOMEONE LIKE YOU ALIVE." Ron yells out angrily. "WE'LL MAKE SURE YOU DIE LIKE YOU SHOULD'VE YEARS AGO." Hermione adds in. The five of you manage to make great distance closing in on Voldemort. There's a slight fear in the mans eyes from the close proximity. 

"Even if I die there will be another dark wizard or witch much worse than me!" Voldemort spits out. "And we will put an end to them just like we are with you! Your evil ways will only bring harm to the wizarding world!" Harry angrily spits out as he grunts. You feel your chest tighten and your heart race wildly from the sheer strength that's surrounding you. 

Finally the red beam from your side overpowers Voldermort's green. With a blast, everyone gets thrown back. A horrible scream rings out in the Forbidden Forest as Voldemort begins to disintegrate before you. Cedric embraces you tightly in his arms as you all watch the man burn. The screams soon turn into still silence asides the heavy breathing from everyone. 

No one says anything at first. You're all too stunned at what you just witnessed. Harry then breaks the silence with deep pants. "He's...He's finally dead." Harry turns his attention to look at you and the others. "He's dead! We did it!" Harry speaks with more energy. There's a smile and a bright shine behind Harry's circular glasses. 

The boy struggles to wrap his arms around everyone in an embrace. Harry then casts a flare up in the sky that emits a green color. Shortly, there's a sound of a flare that streaks the sky. Everyone looks up to see a matching green flare most likely from one of the professors. It's a signal that all the Death Eaters have fled or are dead. You're positive a few managed to escape. 

"We should meet up with the others and get our injuries treated." Ron looks at everyone as he speaks softly. The group nods in silence as you all slowly get up on your feet. Hermione leans on Ron and Harry as they help her forward. Cedric keeps you close with his arm around your shoulder. You grip tightly to his robe as your mind is still in a daze after all the events today.

The castle itself is safe but the damage in and around the Quidditch Field is another matter. Hours go by as students and deaths are accounted for. With the sudden loss of the headmaster, the professors quickly appoint the role to the next person in line. Professor McGonagall steps in to take control of the situation. 

There's a moment of silence with wands held up high for the mourning of those everyone lost today. Everything happens so quickly that you struggle to comprehend the events. One moment you're fighting for your lives. The next you're all learning the names of the fallen ones. Then you're all told that this marks the end of the Hogwarts year. Professor McGonagall ushers everyone to return home for their own safety.
