♡ 21 | The Bad News

It's the weekend before May. Cedric suggested to go on a date at Hogsmeade to take your mind off your many worries. The thought alone makes you smile but there's always an uneasiness in the back of your mind. You're enjoying an afternoon tea party with Cedric at Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop. The tiny tea shop is located on a side road off the High Street in Hogsmeade. It's adorn with several couples who are also enjoying themselves in the frilly bow covered shop.

The two of you opt to sitting outside to take in the brisk spring air and warm sun. You feel a calmness as you watch people pass by. Each person on their own adventure as they bustle around the busy shopping area. You sip on your lavender earl grey tea before setting it down on it's floral saucer. Your eyes then find their way to Cedric. 

Your favorite Hufflepuff boy has been silent with a tea cup in his hand while the other is stroking your right hand with his left thumb. The brightness in his grey eyes have been dampen as of late. You wonder if Cedric's also overwhelmed with the amount of stress going on. He's always one to put you first before himself. While you're the complete opposite. It can be a bit frustrating the way you both care so much for the other as you disregard yourselves. 

"Tea is meant to be consumed Ced." You point at Cedric's still full cup. Cedric snaps out of his thoughts when he hears your voice. The boy flutters his eyelashes and darts his eyes from you to his tea. He dryly chuckles under his breath and finally takes a sip of his tea cup. 

The usual gentle smile laces onto Cedric's face when he looks at you. "Do you remember the first time you came over to my place for the summer of our first year?" A smile and then the sound of your giggles bubbles from your throat when you nod your head. "Of course I do. You attempted to make me some tea but with how nervous you were having a girl over for the first time, you added salt instead of sugar." 

Cedric grows red in the face as he shakes his head with embarrassment at his younger self. "Yet you drank it anyway with a smile. Until I tasted the tea myself and spat it all out." Cedric mumbles with a wide grin. The two of you laugh at the memory. 

"That same summer created many more embarrassing memories. I can't forget how you didn't lock the bathroom door. You looked so adorable with your messy bed hair and sleepy expression while brushing your teeth." Cedric's cheeks flush a shade pink when he recalls the memory. You feel the heat in your own face creep up when you pull your hand away from Cedric to lightly slap your cheeks. 

"I was tired and hadn't adjust to being under another household. You have no idea how nervous I was when my parents told me I would be spending my summer vacation with the Diggory's for a month. The two of us were still strangers practically. But our parents insisted we'd get along." You scrunch your nose shyly, eyes down on your half filled tea cup. 

Cedric snickers under his breath as he raises his tea cup again to his lips, taking a long sip. "I remember how you would just read books for a week straight. I asked my mother for advice on how to approach you." There's a gentle smile on Cedric's face when he recalls the memory. The boy swirls his tea slowly. 

A smile stretches on your face as you perk up. "That's when you baked me sweets to eat. I was annoyed at first for being interrupted as I read but seeing how covered you were in flour and the look of determination you carried, my emotions left me. Eventually I was more interested on watching you bake than reading itself. The summer flew by with several sweets made. Too much for us to eat that your parents took them to work to share with their coworkers." 

Shared laughter fills the conversation. The two of you go back and forth on recalling earlier memories. Moments that were awkward in your friendships. To eventual further bond. Neither of you bring up the times when you were dating Draco during your friendship. Those times are best to keep silent.
