You wake up early Christmas morning in hopes to help Mrs. Diggory with breakfast but to your surprise Cedric is already downstairs with his mother. There's a plate of towering chocolate chip pancakes, sliced fruits, and a kettle on the stove brewing some tea. The aroma smells heavenly with the fireplace roaring in the living room. Plenty of presents are under the tree. Most of them being the ones Cedric received from the girls yesterday.
Without disturbing Cedric and his mother, you stand at the foot of the staircase with a smile. Seeing the two smile at one another warms your heart. You forget the feeling of sadness just for a moment. "Looks like those two woke up before us." There's a soft whisper behind you that makes you startle. Mr. Diggory snickers under his breath and pats you on the shoulder.
"We should join them Y/N." Mr. Diggory gently places his arm over your shoulder and ushers you alongside him towards the kitchen. "Morning to my favorite people." Mr. Diggory announces himself as you two stop in front of the kitchen. Cedric and Mrs. Diggory greet the two of you a good morning.
Mrs. Diggory cuts off the stove and Cedric reaches over for the kettle to pour tea in four glasses. "Did you get enough sleep Y/N? You could've slept in a bit more." Mrs. Diggory tucks a few stray hairs behind your ear when she pulls herself away from the stove. Mr. Diggory helps himself to the plate of pancakes, bringing them over to the dining room.
You form a tiny smile to Mrs. Diggory with a nod. "For the first time in awhile I had a dreamless sleep. I'm well rested." You speak slightly loud for Cedric to hear. The bright grey eyed boy meets your eyes, a smile tugging on his chiseled face.
"That's great to hear. Now let's also feed your stomach. Cedric made pancakes so help yourself to more than one." Mrs. Diggory smiles brightly as she hurries to grab plates to set the table. You make your way over to Cedric as he fills the last cup of tea. Before you can reach out to grab two cups, Cedric speaks up.
"Careful. It's still hot." Cedric sets down the kettle before resting his attention on you. You notice the sweater that adorns his body. It's the one you gave him last night. The sleeves seem to stop a bit short on his arms.
You reach out to grab the end of his sleeves, tugging it slightly with pursed lips. "Did you grow again? I could've sworn I had the correct measurements..." You speak more to yourself than to Cedric. There's a warm chuckle above you when Cedric pokes the tip of your nose. "It's fine. This way I can show off the bracelet you made me to mum and dad."
Cedric flashes the sunflower bracelet with a wide smile. The bracelet isn't much to show. The band is just a brown faux leather with a sunflower charm. "Is yours the same?" Cedric curiously asks as he grabs two of the glasses filled with tea. Nodding your head, you pull down your left sleeve to show him a matching pair.
You couldn't wear it any sooner or else Cedric wouldn't have a surprise. Seeing your bracelet on your wrist makes Cedric smile widely. You giggle at how easily pleased the boy can be. Reaching for the last two glasses, you both leave the kitchen to sit with his parents. Mr. Diggory is reading the Daily Prophet while Mrs. Diggory helps herself to the pancakes and fruit slices. There's a record player going with the tune of jazz in the corner of the living room.
The both of you set the tea glasses down before taking your own seats. Cedric hurries over to pull your chair out for you this time. Cedric tends to be chivalrous, yesterday being one of those slipups when he couldn't beat you to the table in time before you had sat down. "Thank you." You mutter out as you watch Cedric take a seat beside you.
Out of habit you both reach for the same pancake. Cedric however quickly puts the pancake on your plate before you can set it on his. Mrs. Diggory wears a smitten look when she watches you two. "It's a shame your parents are still tied up with work even on a day like today." Mr. Diggory exhales when he sees their names in the Daily Prophet. He lowers the newspaper to take a sip of the tea.
