He didn't leave the house. Peat stayed inside. He knew if he went to work, he would be bombarded with questions and that was not something he wanted so he did his duties from home. He made sure that everything he wanted to do he did at home that day hoping that by the next day, the news would die down. He was clearly mistaken as the news trended for four days straight interchangeable. Peat knew he had to return back to work as he couldn't run away from it forever. He made specific calls to his office, to know if the reporters were still waiting for him, they were. They had heard from Fort's side, now it was Peat's turn, but it was proving very difficult. The break-up had happened on a Sunday and the very next day was Friday. Peat had a very important meeting and made up his mind to do the interview on Thursday so the reporters wouldn't be available on Friday for his meeting. Peat was one fashionable man and today, he decided to look top notch. If he was to deliver a sad news, he was to appear his best. At least the question of where he got the things he had would come up and he would trend.
Peat was well aware that he had a slender waist so he picked an outfit that accentuated this. He didn't wear a suit, instead he picked up a nice slim fit shirt, a really nice wrist watch, and his best pair of shoes. He called a maid to help him style his hair. By the time it was all over, Peat made even the ground he was walking on, envious. He got into his car and was about to leave, when he changed his mind ran into the house and brought out the keys to the car Fort bought him. It was a gift and he had no intention of returning anything given to him by Fort. It was a sports car, and it was neat. By it's specifications, he also knew it was expensive. This was the right occasion to flex it.
Peat arrived his office by 9am. He stayed inside the car, waiting patiently for more reporters to gather. He brought his head out sometimes so they would know he was the one. In no distant time, the place was swarming with reporters. Peat was glad. He got out of the car and walked towards them. They bombarded him with questions and his answers were elegant. Some of the photographers were really stunned by his visuals and asked if he was a model, Peat smirked. He had gotten their undivided attention. He spoke “ I know why most of you are here, to check my condition, to know if there's anything you can take back. But I'm sorry to disappoint you, there isn't. I and Khun Fort broke up on mutual terms with each party understanding the other. I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused so many of you who were rooting for us and to as many hoping for a reunion, there wouldn't be any”. Peat tried to brush his way into the crowd into his office till a female reporter spoke up and stopped Peat on his tracks “Khun Wanjai, you said it was on mutual terms and the relationship has ended for good, sir, you were willing to restore his company back to him with taking a dime. You have a percentage of his shares and so many other things, sir, telling us you fell out of love with this person is impossible, can we know the actual reason or it's private”? Wanjai had no answer for this question as it struck a heart string, he didn't answer and kept moving until the lady shouted behind him “ WE'RE ROOTING FOR YOU! PLEASE WIN YOUR LOVE BACK”!
This one statement made Peat stagger. He quickly regained composure but was quite tired of everything. He eventually got into his office and shut the door to everyone. He plopped to the floor, all his self confidence left him. “ Fort, I hope you see this, I'm living fine without you”. Tears rolled down his cheeks after saying this. The whole day, he went about his duty as he had planned. He posted on his Insta story with a really spicy caption “ UNTOUCHABLE ”.
Fort saw everything, the interview, the question the lady asked, him staggering, nothing passed his eyes. Peat was his baby after all. He focused on what was on ground with a few people. They were going to find the person who was doing this to them and put a stop to it completely. There was a bit of a problem that Fort had with everything, “ what if it was all over and Peat does not want anything to do with me? Should I have told him everything”? Fort shook this thought out of his head. He was going to be the bad person if it meant that Peat would be safe. They were both suffering and it was well justified.
The next day was the meeting with the client, Peat was already in his office waiting patiently. He noticed that the staff that always brought him coffee had quit. He tried to investigate it, but had other matters to settle first like getting Dry Hill to partner with them. Dry Hill were the leading manufacturers of raw materials in Asia. The owner of the company was known for his charming looks and nice personality but nothing prepared Peat for what he was about to experience. When he stepped into the office, he immediately shook hands with Peat and said “ if you let me, I'll be the best partner you will ever have. Nice to meet you, I'm Max”.
