I swim over to Lo'ak to see him on an animal but it wasn't an Ilu

"Lo'ak what is that?" I say distressed " I don't know what they are called but its pretty cool  Lo'ak says filled with hope while patting the creature, He signals me to go over to him and I reluctantly follow his lead to the animal.

"Cmon he doesn't bite Netyia" I put my arm out in response to Lo'aks works "Hey buddy" I say rubbing his fin. I feel Lo'ak smiling at the sight "We should go back" I say, Lo'ak nods agreeingly as we jump on my Ilu back to the island before saying goodbye to the animal

Father is there to greet us along with Aonung and Tonowari, Lo'ak and I both feel everyone's stares as we walk up to them all, Voices coming from everywhere with people saying the boy has returned and how is he safe, I lock eyes with father before its interrupted by a warming hug from both Kiri and Tuk

"Thank goodness your safe tyia" Tuk says squezing even tighter, Kiri does the same. We stay for a moment before I peck their foreheads and move closer to Lo'ak standing beside him. Rage fills his eyes as he walks up to Aonung before Father stops him "Hey, hey lets get a look at you" He analyzes Lo'ak to find no serious wounds . "He's fine It's just a few scratches" Dad says to the Chief and his son. Mother then comes from the crowd

"I pray for the strength that I will not pluck the eyeballs out of my youngest son" She says sternly causing Lo'ak to roll his eyes I look up at Aonung, who is filled with regret. He looks into my eyes, its almost like i can hear what hes trying to say, Tonowari speaks up "No, my son knows better than to take him outside the reef" then puts a hand on Aonung shoulder pushing him to a kneel before continuing "The blame is his".  He doesn't break eye contact with me as his Dad speaks but as soon as my father does I break it "Okay lets go" He says signally for us to go

I look at Lo'ak who's thinking about something, He looks at me then back at Tonowari "No, This is not Aonungs fault this was my idea" I try to stop him but he keeps going "Aonung tried to talk me out of it really" I look at Lo'ak in disbelief as he apologizes to Tonowari, Dad hurries us along making us walk pass Ao'nung and his family, He looks at me with hop in his eyes as i roll mine at his gesture.

We walk in silence until Lo'ak speaks "Dad, You told me to make friends with these kids thats all I was trying to do" I look at father then back to Lo'ak  "You have brought shame to this family" Dad says, My heart breaks at that sentence. I see Lo'aks ears go down "Dad that is not fair" I say with anger in my voice "This isnt your problem Netyia" I step Infront of Lo'ak "Lo'ak is a good person stop making him feel like hes any lesser than that, You do not get to belittle him just because he is not perfect, No one is" Dad looks at me, I can feel the tears swelling in my eyes " Do not talk to your father like that" Mother says as I back down and stand beside Lo'ak once again

"Can I go now?" Lo'ak says, Dad just nods before giving him another lecture "Anymore trouble and i will knot your tail, do you read me" I scoff at his remark "Yes sir" Lo'ak replies before walking off, I decide to follow him catching up pretty quickly. "Bro don't take his words to heart" Lo'ak remands silent at my words, then I hear familiar footstep coming from behind us

It's Ao'nung I move to the other side of the both of them so Lo'ak is in the middle "Why did you speak for me" He asks, Lo'ak just turns his head "Because I know what its like to be one big disappointment" Ao'nung just scoffs at his statement as he walks us all the way back to the hut "Netyia may I speak to you for a moment, Alone?"

I nod as I turn around back to Aonung "Look, I am sorry about being an asshole I just" I stop him before he says another word "Just what? Just put my brother in danger? Made fun of my sister?"

He takes a second to respond "I'm a dick I know that but I don't know how else to be okay? I'm under loads of pressure from my parents to be the next chief and my trainings been hard, I just take it out on people that I don't know because I don't know how to deal with it and I hate it just as much as you hate me right now" I look at him with hope in my eyes "Ao'nung I don't hate you well I do but not as much as you think" At that point I put out my arms and he embraces them

We hug for awhile before I pull away " Thank you Ao'nung for this" He looks at me with a smile "Your welcome tyia" I smile at the name before turning around back into the hut

"What are you all smiley about?" Neteyam asks "Nothing" I say returning to a straight face. The whole night I couldn't forget about the things that had happened until I drifted off to sleep

The next morning, Lo'ak told the group to meet him by the whaft so we all round up and went there. It was Tuk, Kiri, Roxto, Aonung, Tsireya, Neteyam, Lo'ak and me. Lo'ak then goes on about Payakan and how he saved him

"The ocean blessed you with a gift brother" Kiri says while Ao'nung tunes in "The tulkuns have not returned yet and anyway no tulkun is ever alone" He looks down at Lo'ak, Lo'ak replies with it was which he wasn't wrong because that Tulkun was the only one I had seen aswell "He had a missing fin" He says while I add "Like a stump on the left side" A series of stares are exchanged between Tsireya, Roxto and Ao'nung before Tsireya opens her mouth "Payakan, its payakan" we all say who it is before Roxto speaks "A young bull who went rouge. He is an outcast, alone and has a missing fin"

"They say he is a killer" Tsireya adds to Roxto statement, I shake my head disagreeing with what had been said because there was no way that the Tulkun that rescued my brother was a killer

"He has killed Na'vi and other tulkuns, Not here but far to the south " Ao'nung says looking at me and Lo'ak. We both disagree at his words, Tsireya speaks up again "You are both lucky to be alive" Me and Lo'ak look at each other, they don't know him like Lo'ak does and I won't believe a story over my own brother ever, I give him a reassuring look before he turns back placing his hand on Tsireyas  "No guys he saved my life He is my friend" Neteyam comes behing Lo'ak "My Baby bro the mighty warroir who faced a killer tulkun and lived to talk about it" Lo'ak gets up angrily " You guys arent listening" He storms off "No Lo'ak I'm listening" Tuk says while watching her brother storm off into the ocean

I reassure the group that he needs a few hours to cool off, We all walk down back to the beach and go our separate ways
