''Well..'' My best friend's voice went up two octaves.

  ''Jazzmin..'' I warned.

Jax plopped on the couch next to me and mumbled groggily. ''What's going on, Shan?'' I leaned into his side, his arm snaking around my shoulders.

''Landon and Jaz had sex and now she's freaking out.'' Jax just raised a dark eyebrow and let out a breathy laugh. ''Well, who had April in the betting pool?''

Jaz was whispering feverishly into the phone. ''Just don't tell Cay! I gotta go, bye. Kisses.'' I sighed as she hung up, scooting closer into my boyfriend's side.

He stood up, tugging me to my feet. ''C'mon, let's go back to bed.''

I followed him back upstairs and slid into his warm bed, almost dissolving into the mattress. Jax hopped in next to me, hooking his arm around me. I closed my eyes feeling his breath fan the back of my neck. I shivered before sleep over came me.

**

I woke to an unsettling feeling in my bones. Jax's arms weren't around me, protectively as the usually were. I jerked out of his bed and flew downstairs and I was greeted by Jax making tacos, humming to himself. I smiled, watching him.

I shuffled over to him eventually and yawned, hopping up on the counter, swinging my legs. ''What time is it?''

He flashed a smile at me. ''Hey, gorgeous. It's about four in the afternoon. I didnt wanna wake you earlier. How'd you sleep?''

I couldn't help but smile back, it was infectious. ''Great 'cause I was with you.''

He handed me a plate of tacos with a sly grin. ''My mom and Tuck went in town. S eat up, we're going to a party tonight.''

I cocked my eyebrows, eating one of the tacos slowly. ''What party?''

''Conner's throwing this huge blowout party. I thought we could go, just for a little.'' He bit his lip softly, looking at me expectantly.

My next words ripped my heart out, hard. ''Jax, baby, we can't.''

He frowned, his eyebrows knitting together. ''What, why not?''

''No one can know we're together or it will somehow get back to Cayden. Then my parents find out, then me and you..'' I let the sentence hang in the air, mostly because I couldn't form the words to finish it.

All the happiness deflated out of him, he looked down at his tacos cooking. ''Right. Nevermind, then I guess. We'll do something else.''

I felt a sharp jab in my chest, looking at him like that. It phsically hurt my heart to see that smile ripped off his face when I shot an idea down because of my idiotic parents. ''I--I guess we could go for a little while.''

His head jerked up, hope in his eyes. ''Really?''

I smiled and pulled him between my legs, snaking my arms around his neck. Planting a kiss on his lips, slid my fingers through the back of his hair. ''I love you.''

Jax nodded, looking pained. I couldn't help but feel a cold sensation settle into my stomach. He never seemed to be able to say it back. I thought Jax loved me, but he'd never said those three words that I always craved to hear. I shook my head slowly, tossing the thought away. No words were going to take away the fact that I felt to my core that Jax loved me as much as I loved him.

I cleared my throat softly. ''Have you talked to Landon yet?''

He looked relieved for a change in subject. ''Yeah, actually. Man, he's whipped. All he could talk about was how good Jaz--.''
