SHOOTING STARS

Falling through the shooting stars

Searching for the light

Cause the flame I coveted

Was trapped in the night

They were stars already

But I was looking at the flame

Cause my greedy ambitions

Didn't fancy a bargain

So down and down I sank

My eyes seeking the light

Tearing canvas of the sky

Searching for the high

Unable to hold my breath anymore

I fainted like an autumn leaf

My throat turned sore

I lost the track like a raft from it's shore;

Those shimmering shooting starts of mine;

Came to rescue me

Tenderly carrying me on their lap

They mended all the mishap;

Together then we ran for the blaze;

And when I was about to catch it

I noticed I wasn't the same,

As I was when the game began;

Anyways, I'd finally held the flame!

If I had ignored the little stars,

How would I ever have got my want?

Now whenever I look back and see

A child confused, and weak,

Crying for it's dreams in a ruthless bleak,

I shout and tell him

To believe in the shooting stars!

Cause they might not be the flame for which you screech;

They'll surely bring them into your reach!!
