"You've worked so hard thus far Draco. Don't let this one curse stop you from your great potential." Voldemort murmurs. His eyes narrow on Draco's pale face. "How can you kill Dumbledore if you haven't killed anyone yet? Do you wish to bring failure to your family Draco?" Voldemort hits a sensitive nerve. The mention of Draco's family makes Draco snap out of his own fear.
Draco automatically shakes his head, his voice much clearer than his previous answers. "No sir. I do not." Voldemort smiles at this. The reptilian looking man steps back from Draco. He pulls out his wand, twirling it to present something to Draco. Draco notices the bag that lays on the floor is moving around wildly.
"With the rise of deaths, the Ministry of Magic had to get their nosy little minions in to spy on us. They've been able to slip away from us for quite some time now. But Barty Crouch Jr. managed to catch one. I kept them alive just for you Draco." There's a shine in Voldemort's eyes that resurfaces fear into Draco.
"For me?" Draco speaks with more hesitance. Voldemort wouldn't just keep a random stranger for Draco. His heart begins to race frantically as Draco watches Voldemort levitate the person out of the bag before roughly dropping them to the ground. The person is bounded with ropes and a cloth dampening their screams.
Voldemort removes the cloth from their mouth and instantly the victim curses and shouts at Voldemort in foul language. Draco tries to examine the person intently. They look rather roughed up and their hair is in disarray. Bruises form where the ropes bound onto them. They don't wear anything in particular to stick out. Draco would've assumed they were an everyday wizard or witch.
But Draco's breath gets knocked out of him when the person makes eye contact with him.
No. No. No. It can't be.
Draco's world begins to crumble right from under him.
Mrs. Y/L/N. It's Y/N's mother.

"Cheers!" You and Cedric both smile from ear to ear as you clink your glasses of butterbeer. Hufflepuff won the Quidditch match against Ravenclaw. The moment is a bittersweet one for you. You're beyond proud of Cedric. His late afternoon practices between juggling his responsibilities as a Prefect and his studies paid off.
But this also means Hufflepuff will be the first contender in the finals. If Slytherin manages to pull a win against Gryffindor-- your signs will align. It gives you great anxiety but you try to push it away. Tonight you're here to celebrate with Cedric. The two of you sip your drinks in silence as you stargaze by the Black Lake.
"Cho's pretty competitive. Despite not having a Firebolt, she managed her own speed to give you a hard time during the match." You break the silence with a light conversation to ease your mind. A smile laces Cedric's face when he turns to his right to look at you.
A dry chuckle leaves his lips as he nods. "Seekers do have an important job. Harry and Draco are just as competitive too. I bet the next match will be entertaining to watch. I never met two students who have it out for each other as much as those two." You nod in silence, your smile falling slowly.
Cedric pulls you close when he wraps his right arm around you. His hand gently strokes your arm. "Something is on your mind, isn't it?" Cedric speaks in a low whisper. You feel his eyes burning the top of your head. You stare at the lake before you.
"Let's not worry about me. Tonight is about you Ced." You raise your eyes over to look at Cedric's bright grey ones. There's a smile that curls onto Cedric's face. The moonlight shines down on him beautifully.
Cedric gently bumps his forehead against yours. His breath tickles your lips from the closeness. You're forced to look at Cedric and nothing else. "I'm always worrying over you my love. It's about the possible events coming up in two months, right? I'm sure things will work out. They always do."
There's a moment where you feel doubtful. But looking at Cedric makes those worries disappear. You want to believe in his words. Even if there's an itching scratch in the back of your mind that say things won't end so perfectly. You have to pull a miracle in order to save everyone that you care for. "I'm sure Harry's got a plan too. So let's just focus on the present. Okay?"
Cedric tucks a few stray hairs behind your ear. His thumb strokes your cheek delicately. You nod your head, a small smile slowly spreading on your face. Cedric then presses a kiss to your lips. You close your eyes to return his kiss as you feel a lightness in your chest. "I love you Y/N." Cedric whispers between kisses.
You force yourself to think about nothing asides the moment you're sharing with Cedric right now. Every second counts. Your kisses become more passionate. Cedric staggers backwards as you're taking the lead now. Between bated breaths do you whisper an I love you in return. "I love you Cedric Diggory."
There's a flush to Cedric's face when you pull away to catch your breath. Cedric wears a shy smile. He takes a chug out of his butterbeer and casts his eyes back to the starry sky. You wrap your arms around Cedric's waist and rest your head on his shoulder. "I'm going to miss this view." Cedric mumbles under his breath.
You nod your head to Cedric's words. There's no doubt you'll miss everything about Hogwarts. It's like home. So many memories have been made here. "What do you think your future will look like after Hogwarts, Ced?" You keep your eyes to the sky. Cedric doesn't answer you at first as he ponders on his answer.
You hear Cedric exhale slowly. He presses a kiss to the top of your head. His answer is muffled into your hair. "I'm not entirely sure but I'll be content with you by my side." Easily your heart races from Cedric's answer. The boy always know what to say to get your heart going.
A snicker leaves your lips as you feel a smile paint on your face. "You say the most romantic things Cedric." You cast your attention over to the bright grey eyed boy. He flashes his most charming smile before kissing the corners of your lips. "I'm just completely infatuated by you, love." Cedric dryly chuckles.
You feel spoiled by Cedric's exploding love. You tighten your hold on the boy. Constant thoughts of feeling like you don't deserve Cedric's love bombards you. It's still surreal to have a second chance at love like this. Especially one with your best friend. "You'll get sick of me one day Ced. I'm sure."
Cedric rolls his eyes with a scoff. He then pinches your cheek. "Don't say that about me. I know myself well enough. I'm sure you'll be the one who get's sick of me first." Cedric crinkles his nose innocently with pink cheeks.
You quickly shake your head and reassure Cedric with a kiss to his cheek. "As if." You giggle with twinkling eyes towards Cedric. The two of you smile at one another. There's a comfortable peace with your silly banter.
