I woke up the next morning with a weight around my waist. I slowly opened my eyes and was immediately met with a grey wall blocking my vision. I looked up and saw a sleeping Shane, his hair all messy and his relaxed expression.
All the events of last came back to me and I blushed thinking about it. Did I really do that? I kissed Shane on the cheek a boy that's supposed to be my best friend, he called me princess, and we fell asleep together.
Fuck. What if my family saw us?
I tried getting out of Shane's grip but he just pulled me back down with him.
"Shane come on we have to get up."
"No we don't." He replied groggily
"We do it's almost... 11A.M! HOW DID WE SLEEP SO LONG?" I said checking my phone
"Okay okay, calm down princess 11a.m isn't even that bad."
"What if my dad saw us?" I retorted bluntly
"Yeah you're right it's very bad and we should get up."
Shane let go of me and I stood up going to grab my brush and untangling my hair with it. I then threw a comb at Shane so he could brush his. I grabbed some clothes from my drawers and went into the bathroom to get changed.
Once I was changed I put my pyjamas into the laundry basket and went back to my room and knocked on the door.
"Can I come in?" I asked raising my voice a little so he could hear me
"Yup." Shane replied
I walked in and saw Shane sitting at my desk looking down at his phone.
"So are we going to avoid my parents today?" I asked him slightly joking
"I don't know. Should we just go down and see how they act?" He suggested
"Oh god okay."
I was not looking forward to this especially not if my dad saw us he would tease me about that until I died.
We walked downstairs this time I was behind Shane. I really did not want to face them. Please for the love of God do not make this awkward. We got downstairs and walked into the kitchen where I heard my parents talking.
"Hey kiddos, late night?" Dave said raising a brow
"Yeah, sort of." I replied
"Hey Shane can I talk to you for a bit? You're not in trouble don't worry. I just want to talk." Dave said turning to him
Shit. Of cause he saw us.
"Sure Dave." Shane gave me nervous glance before walking off with Dave
"Mom do you know what that's about?" I asked my mother looking at the place the two had just left
"Probably the fact that he found you two cuddled in the same bed." She smirked at me
"It was very cute. I even got a few photos." She continued
"WHAT?!" I practically yelled
"Honey calm down, I'm not mad I think it's cute that you two are finally admitting that you like each other."
"Mom we don't like each other. All that happened was that we forgot to bring up the mattress and we didn't want to wake people up by bringing it up and we didn't want to sleep away from each other or on the floor so we shared the bed. That's all." I ranted
"Mhm, yeah. All of what you just said screams you have a crush on each other."
"We don't have a crush on each other."
"Evelyn. It's so obvious. You have a crush on him and he has a crush on you the faster you accept that the easier it's going to be. Trust me honey if you keep denying it he's going to stop waiting, so just admit it Eves, I wont judge you." She grabbed my hands looking into my eyes to make sure that I understood what she was saying
"Fine, Mom. I like him. I like him a lot and I've always known there was something different about our friendship and the way I felt about him but I just didn't want to admit it."
"There you go Eves now all you have to do is say that to him."
"Are you crazy?!" I raised my voice a little
"No Evelyn I'm being serious. Tell him." She said with a stern look on her face
"No I can't do that. What if you're wrong? What if he doesn't like me back?" I replied starting panic about it
"Oh Eves. If you don't want to tell him you don't have to. You can wait for him to make the first move or until you feel comfortable to talk to him." She said pulling me into a hug
"Okay." I replied softly calming down a little
"What happened? Eves are you okay?" I heard Shane's voice question from behind me
"Huh? Yeah no I'm okay just a little stressed." I replied looking up at him
"You sure?" He asks again
"Yeah I'm all okay." I reassured him giving him a gentle smile
"Okay." He said pulling me into a protective hug
"You can always talk to me if you need to princess." He whispered into my hair loud enough that I could hear him but no one else
"I know." I smiled into his shirt
"They're so cute together" I heard my Mom whisper
"They really are" Dad replied just as quiet
