Chapter 6

We stood there for a while just staring at eachother. Everything in the world just seemed so distant and it seemed like the only thing that truly mattered was this moment.

God he's perfect.

The moonlight practically danced in the relection of his eyes even when he was tired he still looked excited and happy.

That reminded me. I broke out of my trance as I realised that it was really late and we should probably start heading back.

"Shane?" I said softly breaking away from his hold

"Yeah?" He said softly

"We should probably head back it's getting late" I said picking up my phone and checking the time

1:58am

Shit.

"Do we have to?" He replied looking at me with a pout

"Yes we have to. It's almost two a.m" I replied smilimg to myself

He's cute. No Evelyn not the time.

"Okay" He said not looking any happier

I saw his expression change and he looked genuinely sad so I paused my music grabbed my speaker turning it off and went up beside him. He was looking at his phone with the lingering expression of saddness on his face.

"Shane" I said quietly getting his attention

"Hm?" He said putting his phone in his pocket

"I'm glad you came here with me"

"I'm glad you took me here Eves"

I knew what I wanted to do in that moment but I didn't have the courage so instead I stood on my tippy toes and kissed him on the cheek.

"Come on lets go" I whispered after walking ahead

Did I really just do that? Oh my god oh my god my god.

I just fucking kissed Shane on the cheek why did I do that? He's probably so uncomfortable right now. Shit.

Shanes POV:

HOLY SHIT

Evelyn jsut kissed me. On the cheek but still.

God I love that girl. She literally has like zero flaws.

"Shane?" I heard her call from infront of me

"Yeah" I snapped out of it picking up my paste to catch up to her

"You okay? I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable-"

"What?" I cut her rambling off

"It's just- you seemed so quiet and I thought it made you uncomfort-"

"No Eves you didn't make me uncomfortable if anything I was just shocked, and besides-" I paused

Could I say that I liked it? Would that sound creepy? Should I just say fuck it and tell I've liked her since we were nine years old? God no.

"I didn't mind it Eves"

Oh god that sounded weird and so unsure.

Fuck.

"I mean I liked it" I spoke again frantically

Wait, that sounded even weirder

"Fuck I mean it didnt make me uncomfortable, wait not I said that already. When did this become so difficult?" I looked down feeling the heat rise to my cheeks

I just completely embarrassed myself.

"Shane it's okay, I know what you meant" I heard Eves laugh slightly

God her laugh is so beautiful. I could listen to it all day.

"Oh thank god" I sighed

"We should probably keep going though its just past 2 a.m" Eves said changing the topic

I didn't say anything just put my arm around her shoulder and started walking again.

Evelyns POV:

We made it back home safely around 2:30 a.m and decided that we should get some sleep

"Shit I forgot to ask for the extra mattress" I cursed quietly

"Can't we go get it?" Shane whispered

"If you want to drag a mattress up the stairs at 2 in the morning and explain why we are still up to my dad when he wakes up, be my guest"

"Fair"

"So what should we do?" He continued quietly

"Well we have three options"

"Option number one: One of us sleeps in the guest room"

"Ehhhh I kind of want to stay with you" Shane replied immediately looking down after he said that

"Okay" I smiled soflty

"Option number two: One of us sleeps on the floor or on my desk chair, both options very uncomfortable"

"Yeah, no" He states

"Option number three: We just share my bed" I say bluntly

"Are you sure?" He questions

"Yeah I'm fine with it besides it's not like we haven't shared a bed before"

"Are you?" I continued making sure he was comfortable with it.

"Yeah of cause"

"Then it's settled" I replied taking off my hoodie and thowing over to the corner of my room before climbing into my bed patting the spot beside me for Shane.

He obliged and climbed in next next to me I threw the duvet over us and turned to my side.

"Thank you Shane I had fun tonight"

"Me too princess"

I felt the dormant butterfly's in my stomach start to flutter at the nickname.

After around five minutes I was half awake when I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist from behind. If I didn't hate it why would I stop it? And I didn't. I just layed there comfortably in his embrace and fell asleep.
