Integrity: Doing the right thing, even when no one's watching.
At least, that's what my school thinks integrity is. Integrity is one of our school's core values. They're always going on and on about honesty and discipline. But when your teacher leaves the room while you're taking a test you haven't studied for, who cares? Not me!
I tried to glance over at Germany's paper, praying he wouldn't make a huge fuss like he did last time.
"Hey!" Germany shrieked, pulling his paper away from me. Game over.
The teacher came rushing through the door due to the noise.
"Who was screaming?" The teacher asked furiously.
Nobody answered, but we all were looking at Germany. The teacher gave him an angry look.
"I only did it because Russia was looking at my paper!" He protested.
The teacher rolled her eyes. She was very familiar with this situation.
"Russia, to the principal's office, now!" She ordered, pointing to the door.
I didn't even argue, I just headed out the door. She handed me an office pass as I was leaving. I was the only kid in my class who was using these passes. I needed them for my daily trip to the principal.
"Hi," I greeted the principal dully.
He didn't say a word back.
"Let me guess," The UN finally said before I even got to tell him why I was here, "cheating on your test?"
"How did you know?" I asked, sounding totally amazed.
The UN sighed and looked out the window. He wasn't even mad, he just looked disappointed.
"Listen, Russia, you've been coming here every day for the past year. You've been suspended twice, and you're the only kid who's been here this school year." He said. He didn't even look me in the eye. I was starting to get worried. "You are the only one! Out of almost two-hundred kids!"
I nodded. I really didn't know what he expected of me. I had a feeling today's discussion wasn't just going to be about cheating.
