Kat's POV

I leaned against the window of the school bus, hoping it would disappear and I could

just fall out of the bus. The idea seemed much safer than having to sit next to

Julia and listen to her drone on and on about how dirty the school bus was,

occasionally squealing at the hardened gum she found on the back of the seat in

front of us.

Each word from her mouth hit my brain like bullets, her mouth rapidly firing sentences

like a machine gun. I smiled at her when she looked at me and grunted every few

minutes just so she knew I was listening. Pretend listening, actually.

I wondered which employee of Fate decided to play this joke on me.

The bus lurched to a stop; I squealed loudly as her cat like neon nails dug in to my

arm. "What the hell, Julia?!" I gasped, hastily removing her fingers but

instead of letting go her grip tightened making me squirm in my seat. She

pulled me close to her, "Look!" she pointed a finger at the small crowd that

"Oh, give me a break." I groaned and fell back on my seat. But Julia swiveled her head around strands of hair whipping me in the face as she craned her head one way and

another. "For goodness' sake!" I spluttered as her curly brown hair got in to

my mouth.

She grabbed her fake designer bag, "I'm going to take an empty seat and hopefully Reyes

will sit next to me." She whispered and I just rolled my eyes as she stood up

and sat two seat in front her. One manicured hand running through her curls in

attempt to seduce Reyes who by now had stepped in to the bus.

His broad figure had made the bus seem smaller in comparison, his russet skin seeming

darker against the yellow backdrop of our bus. I took one last look at Julia

who was waving a hand at Reyes, who smiled back at her.

I dropped against my seat and went back to my casual staring out in to the street passing
