Hindi kasi kami informed doon. Tumango si Carson at parang nahiya sa impormasyong sinabi niya.

I nodded at him. "Hindi pa nila kami nasasabihan kaya baka hindi pa approved."

"Should you ask them?" Sa akin naman napunta ang atensiyon ni Luisa.

"Me?" Nagulantang ako. "Ikaw na lang kaya? Kuya mo si Lui-"

"No way! Inubos niya 'yung pancake syrup ko kanina without my permission kaya ayoko siyang kausapin!"

Bumuntong-hininga ako. Sinulyapan ko ang mga co-officer naming inaasahang matatapos agad ang huddle na ito kaya bumagsak ang balikat ko nang may pagsuko.

"I'll talk to Gio," I said thinly.

"Yey! Go, bilis! I'm hungry!" si Seka na kakasali lang sa usapan.

Pabiro akong umirap sa kanila bago tumalikod para hanapin ang kinaroroonan ni Gio.

I stretched my neck to search for him among the sea of people, only to realize that he was already outside.

Kung paano ko nalaman? Narinig ko ang bulungan at napansin ko ang pang-uusisa ng ibang SC sa bintana.

I heard Giovanni was outside talking to someone. Kaya naman, pinagsisihan ko kaagad na hindi ko muna inalam kung sino iyon. Basta na lang akong lumabas ng opisina.

Right beside the doorway, I found him occupied and immersed in front of Hennessy.

My lips parted. They looked so busy minding their own business on the side of the corridor, near the office' doorway, as if they were inside their little bubble.

Nasa likod ako ni Hennessy habang nasa harapan niya naman si Gio. Hindi pa nakakatulong na pinagtitinginan sila ng bawat napapadaan sa corridor kaya bigla akong nahiya sa biglaang paglabas ko.

Kung sinuswerte ka nga naman.

"I sent you a message earlier, but you haven't replied! Are you that busy?" May tampo sa manipis na tinig ng babae.

Gio nodded once. "You can say that."

"I understand. But don't worry, ah? I'm not mad," Hennessy then chuckled before raising the lunch box she was holding. "Look, I even brought you food! I know you love vegetable salad, so I made one for you!"

I scoffed at myself. I was very out of the scene, so I decided to step back and enter the office again.

Lalo akong nakumbinsi na hindi dapat ako nandito dahil nakita kong humakbang papalapit si Gio kay Hennessy.

Probably to get the lunch box? But I don't care. I should be out of here.

Akmang aabutin ko na ang door knob para sana bumalik sa loob. Kaya lang, paangat pa lang ang kamay ko nang may sumikop doon.

Pagkalingon kung kaninong kamay iyon, namilog ang mga mata ko nang tumambad sa harap ko si Gio.

Panic resided all over my body. I even noticed how Hennessy looked stunned being shoved away to the side because of Giovanni's abrupt movements! What the hell!

"Are you done? You should take your lunch now." He checked his wristwatch. "Any cravings?"

Napakurap-kurap ako. "Huh? H-Hindi pa. May tatapusin lang ako at mamaya na kakain."

His shoulders slumped a bit as he tilted his head in disagreement.

"Haven't we settled that we will eat our lunch together?" Gio narrowed his eyes at me. "We already discussed this last night. Don't tell me-"

"Yes, last night!" putol ko sa kanya bago pa man siya may masabing hindi kaaya-aya.

I can't believe him! In front of everybody? Really?
