You and Toby have been through a lot together. You both swore that you'd always be there for each other. You guys were best friends throughout middle school and high school. You always protected him from the bullies and the hurtful words they would say about his disorder. At that time, he got very attached to you and never wanted to leave your side. You felt the same. You both confessed how you felt, and you soon started dating.

A little after high school ended, you both went to separate colleges, studying in different majors. Toby realized he didn't know what to do without you by his side. He was so attracted and attached to you that he even made you miss your flight when your day came to go off to college. It drove him crazy anytime you wouldn't answer the texts he would send or the phone calls he'd leave. He often sent texts like "Are you just too busy to even send a text anymore y/n..?" and it was sadly true. College was way harder than you expected, and you felt bad when Toby sent texts like that. You didn't want him to feel lonely, but you never really had much time on your hands to answer or call him back.

Toby got tired of waiting for answers and wanted to take matters into his own hands. He decided to drop out and grab the first flight he could, flying over to where your school was located. He ended up getting a hotel nearby so he could be closer to you. Now, you guys would never be apart. One night, you were in your dorm room listening to music and finishing up some work. You then heard a small knock on your window, and to your surprise, it was Toby. He's never been happier to see your cute face. You gasp and quickly open the window and lunging at him, hugging him tightly. "Toby! Why are you here?! Are you on vacation right now?! How did you get here?!" You had so many questions. He just chuckled as you helped him climb in through your window. You both tried your best not to make any noise in case the dorm advisor came by.

After he got situated he told you everything. "You left..?! You loved your old college... Why would you leave all of a sudden??" You asked a little disappointed. "O-Oh y/n... I just w-w-wanted to b-be with y-you. You n-never have t-time to t-t-text or call a-anymore so I t-thought t-this would be b-b-better... I can see you e-everyday n-n-now!" he said, smiling big, twitching a little here and there. You smiled softly, leaving a small kiss on his cheek. "Not every day, but we can make it work, I suppose.." you said smiling, him nodding in response.

A few weeks passed by, and exams were coming up. You were more stressed than anything, and honestly, Toby didn't make things any better. He would always bother you at the wrong times, mainly when you were in the middle of studying, and would not leave you alone. Every time you asked for some alone time, he never listened. You never got much work done and ended up having to stay up late trying to finish what you had started earlier that day. This was a constant thing with him, and there were times you'd get so annoyed and angry you would lash out at him. "Toby! I'm trying to study... Please leave already so I can focus!!" he would stop what he was doing, and a frown would take over his face. "I'm s-sorry y/n... I g-guess you r-r-really are t-too busy f-for m-me.." You looked at him, leaving the room completely saddened by your outburst. You sigh in relief as now you could study but started feeling a hinge of guilt. "Did I take it too far..." you asked yourself quietly as you went back to your work.

Toby started sending you messages, guilt-tripping you. "I hope you know how sad you made me y/n.." or "Don't worry about me anymore.. I'll be fine alone." You couldn't help but feel bad. He was your boyfriend, and you didn't want him to be upset or sad because of how busy you were. You were never really good at comforting someone, so this had an impact on you. You knew Toby got attached fast, but you didn't think it would result in guilt-tripping. There was a time in high school when you had a huge argument, and out of anger, you threatened to break up with him. That's where this all started. Up until this point, he's done nothing but guilt trip you into staying in a relationship with him. You didn't fully realize that until now. Your friends think you're both happy, but you never told them the truth.

You ended up falling asleep during your study session. You woke up when you heard a knock on your door. You get up yawning and rubbing your eyes. You open the door and see Toby standing in your doorway. "Oh so y-you can s-s-sleep but n-not text or c-call b-back..?!" he ticks furiously as his voice cracks. You quickly walk to grab your phone, unlock it, and see over 50+ calls and texts. "Toby..." you say softly. "D-Do you not l-l-love me a-anymore..? Is t-that it? Y-Your always f-f-focused on o-other t-t-things! You n-never s-show me a-any a-a-attention or s-show that you c-care a-about me a-a-anymore.." he says, tears threatening to fall from his eyes. You just stand there staring as you sigh. "Toby, I'm sorry, ok? I've just been really busy, and you haven't made it easy for me. You always come in when I'm working or studying, and it's stressful doing that and having you pestering me every 5 seconds." You say fed up. "S-So you d-don't c-care about m-me anymore t-then..? Y-You don't l-love m-me??" he says softly, looking into your eyes. "N-No, that's not what I meant..! Of course I love you!" You say as you grab his hand, holding it tightly. "Prove it.." he says.

"Dropout." Those two words were enough to make you speechless. You stare at him, not knowing what to say. "T-Toby... I can't do that..!" you say, your voice cracking with each word. He pulls you in, "I-If you l-l-love m-me you'll c-come w-with me, w-we'll find a p-place to l-live. You d-don't n-need to go to c-collage if y-you h-have m-m-me.." he says, holding you close to his chest. You bite on your finger, thinking everything over. You tried so hard throughout high school to finally get into this school, and your dream finally came true. Were you really going to throw it all away? You sigh as you look up at him, wrapping your arms around his neck. "Ok... I'll drop out. For you.." Toby had a big smile on his face as his twitching calmed. "Really b-baby..?" he kissed the top of your head, your cheek, your nose, and then finally planted a kiss on your lips. You nod still a little hesitant. "We can do the paperwork and leave tomorrow morning.." You say gripping his hoodie. "I'll h-help you s-start p-packing now t-then!" he says excitedly.

After about an hour or two, you finally finish packing with the help of your boyfriend. "Finally done.." You say out of breath. "Y-Yeah.. H-Hey, I'll c-come w-w-wake you u-up t-tomorrow so don't w-worry about s-setting any a-alarms ok?" he says, cupping your face in his hands. "Ok.." You say and nod in response. You force a small smile holding his hands in place as he leaves a kiss on your forehead. He then makes his leave, shutting the door quietly so as not to disturb anybody in the dorm area. You sigh softly, leaning up against the door. Tears started to sting your eyes, threatening to fall. "Am I really giving up all my dreams for love..?" you say softly, watching your tears fall to the ground.

You did. And there was no going back now. You didn't know how you were going to tell your friends, but you would figure that out in the morning. You were just glad to have Toby in your life, even if it meant giving up on your dreams.

The funny thing is I revised this so many times. I was stressing 😭 I had other plans for this chapter, but I finally found a good one that I thought would somewhat fit with Toby's character. THANKS FOR READING!!! 💕
