I stood at the steps of the church, waiting for Jack. He'd finally proposed last week, and we promised we'd get married when we docked. I ran out to get my dress (despite my hatred for them, it was indeed an appropriate occasion to wear one) and a bouquet of light blue flowers for it, then I was at the church doors, pacing.
The clock inside struck 6, I'd been waiting three hours. Now convinced that he wasn't going to come, I returned to the dock where the Black Pearl was anchored.
But the Pearl was gone. I spotted a ship with black sails on the horizon.
"Jack!" I screamed, throwing my bouquet into the ocean in fury. Tears poured down my face as I knelt to the deck, defeated. He hadn't just left me at the alter. He'd left me behind.
