"Tu abhi yahin hai?" Amrit looked at Mihir who just joined them at the table.
(You're still here?)

"Aap bhi to yahin ho." He murmured in a low voice, opening the lids to check what was made.
(You're here too)

Seeing the dish he didn't like, he poured himself some cereal, gulping it down in a hurry only to choke when his eyes fell on Amrit's neck.

Amrit patted his back, while Roop offered him some water, "I know I overslept par aap log..." He shook his head disapprovingly when his coughs died down.
(I know I overslept but you guys...)

"Shut up." Roop closed her eyes in annoyance, "And you. Khulna nahi chahiye ye raat tak." She warned, closing the topmost button of his shirt.
(And you, it better not open till night)

"Okay, bye." He replied, pecking her lips quickly as he rushed out.

"I think I agree with your earlier statement," Mihir mumbled to Roop before catching up to Amrit.

A tired sigh left her lips as she kept the plates in the kitchen before going to greet everyone.

Afternoon came before she knew it, Roop was packing a lunch for Amrit and Mihir since Rahil already had his, when she heard loud voices from the hall. Taking the lunch outside, she kept it in her purse while watching Saanvi complaining to her mother.

"I'm telling you isme Amrit bhai ka hath hai!" She raised her voice at her mother.
(I'm telling you, Amrit bhai is behind all this!)

"Calm down!" Nandini tried to calm her down before anyone came there but she wasn't ready to, fat tears streamed down her face as she looked at Roop who was dressed beautifully, a glow on her face.

"Tum! Iske peeche bhi tum hi hogi nahi? Iss baar kya kaha bhai se jo firse meri job chali gayi?" Saanvi asked, marching towards Roop.
(You! Wouldn't you be behind this too? What did you tell my brother this time that I lost my job again?)

"Excuse me?"

"Will you stop acting innocent for a minute? Your husband blacklisted my name from every company, tell me why? Because of you! Jabse humare ghar me aayi ho tabse ye sab-"
(Ever since the day you came here, everything-)

"Shut up." She clutched her handbag tightly.

"What?"

"I said shut up." She looked at her, standing firmly in her place, "You probably know what you did. Stop blaming me for your actions and stay within your limits Saanvi, I can raise my voice and create a fuss too." She said simply.

"You bitch-"

"Oh please." She rolled her eyes, "I know worse, wo bhi hindi me." Roop said, stepping closer to her, "Stop interfering in my married life, next time I'll make sure he does something worse than just taking your job away." She warned before walking out of the house.

...

Taking a deep breath, she entered the elevator, pressing the button to the top floor where Amrit's office was.

Looking at her reflection in the mirror for one last time to check if everything is in its place or not, she walked out of the elevator once it opened.

Walking to the assistant's desk, she asked, "Is he free?"

"You are?"

"Um...Roop Mehrotra?" She replied nervously, it was just her second time in the office and she wasn't dealing with a familiar face.

"Do you have an appointment? I wasn't notified about your presence." She replied politely before starting to explain herself in a haste, "I'm sorry I'm new and I've heard the last assistant was fired because she let someone in-"

"It's okay, it's fine." Roop interrupted before she went breathless, "I'm his wife." She told her, a red hue making its presence on her cheeks as she said the words.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know. He's inside, you can go...do you want me to inform him?" The assistant asked.

"Is it fine if you don't?" Roop asked suggestively.

"If you promise me I won't lose this job? I really need the money." The young girl looked at her hesitantly.

"Only if you give this to Mihir." Roop smiled as she took out a lunchbox from her bag.

"The CFO?" She asked.

"Yes."

"Deal." The assistant reciprocated her smile, taking the lunch from her while Roop walked near his office's door, knocking thrice.

"Come in." Came his voice.

Peeking her head inside, she looked at him engrossed in a sketch he was working on for a project.

"Hii." She whispered, closing the door behind her.

"Ruh?" His head snapped up real quick as he heard her voice, he tried to close the button discreetly but her narrowed eyes told him she noticed.

Keeping the work equipment aside, he started to get up but she interrupted, asking him to keep seated.

"Come here." He ordered when he saw her taking a seat across the desk...

"But-"

"I hate that word." He groaned, watching her round the desk and standing beside him. He pulled her in his lap, keeping her secured in her place as his arm wrapped around her.

"I got you lunch." She told him, taking the lunchbox out of her purse as she kept it aside, "I knew you wouldn't eat something by yourself, you eat one meal a day whenever you're out...and it's not good for your health plus-"

He didn't hear a word she said since his focus was on her lips painted dark with lipstick as he cut her off with a kiss.

He smiled against her lips when he felt her fingers caressing his cheek, "You're beautiful." He said, breaking the kiss.

"Eat." She turned to the box and opened it. Amrit watched as she opened the lid of every container, everything seemed to be of his liking.

They ate the food in silence while Amrit kept feeding her time by time as he didn't let her get off his lap.

"Let me take a look at my wife." He said once she was done packing the lunch, making her stand as he held her hands, turning her around, "Did you wear this for me?" He asked cheekily.

"I did." She replied, waving the pallu of her saree on his face, giggling as he closed his eyes, "Do you like it?" She asked, twirling around.

"I love it." He told her, getting up from the chair as he held her hand, twirling her around one more time before keeping her close to himself as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

His fingers made circles on her bare waist as he kissed her forehead, "My pretty wife." He whispered, keeping her close.

They were having a moment until Mihir decided to come and thank Roop for the lunch instead of leaving a text.
