Ayla sat in the watch tower intently looking around. Iris was safe and in their cell but she had yet to see her. She was relived her best friend was okay but the whole situation opened a side Ayla tried to hide. She hated losing people, it was common for people to die now but she always tried her best to ignore it. In her head her friends were invincible, and to see a virus almost kill one of them made her realize.
Her friends are not so invincible as she thought.
Sersi opened the watch tower seeing Ayla sitting there staring blankly. Ayla didn't even notice Sersi's presence. Sersi played with her fingers before sitting down beside Ayla. Ayla turned finally noticing sersi, she gently smiled before turning back to look at the sky.
"I haven't seen you in a while" sersi mumbled continuing to fiddle with her hands. "Iris has been asking for you" sersi kept her gaze on Iris waiting for her to make eye contact.
Ayla felt Sersi's burning gaze but continued to ignore it, "yeah I've just been really busy" Ayla mumbled.
Sersi could tell right away Ayla was lying. The girl had been friends long enough to know when something was bothering one another. But not long enough to see one of them break.
