Completely Comfortable

They couldn't get Steve to talk though, they couldn't even get him to look at them. He just faced the wall, staring at it blankly, Adiras favourite soft toy, a small monkey with a zipper on the back, tucked under his arm

So here Eddie, Nancy and Dustin were outside of the Wheeler household, packing away their things and getting rid of a bunch of stuff. Most people were moving out of Hawkins for a while because of the mysterious 'earthquakes' but the Wheelers had decided to stay for a while and see how things panned out

"Steve still hasn't left her room you know, he hasn't eaten or drank anything, he won't talk," Dustin said to the others as he struggled to keep back his tears, "I've gone over to Robins a few times but her mum just says that Robin isn't talking and won't leave her room," Dustin explains, "apparently she isn't eating or drinking either."

The two of them had clearly taken this the hardest, though Dustin was coming in pretty close behind alongside Eddie. Dustin and Eddie had gone to check on Steve a few times to see if he had moved, but they had no luck

"Her funeral is tomor-" Eddie was cut off suddenly by the sound of honking

"Did someone order a pizza?" Mrs Wheeler asked in confusion as she looked over at the pizza van that was approaching

"Pizza?" Dustin questioned. He hadn't ordered any pizza and he was pretty sure that Eddie and Nancy hadn't. The van stopped at the end of the driveway and the doors flew open.

Their mouths dropped as Eleven, Mike, Jonathan and Will all stepped out of the van, along with another guy that none of them had ever met before. They all smiled at each other, happy to see their friends... or at least some of them.

Mike ran over to his mum and hugged her whilst Jonathan ran straight over to Nancy, throwing his arms around her happily

Will ran to Dustin, hugging his friend whilst Eddie and Eleven stood there awkwardly. "You Uh, you must be eleven. The cool chick with super powers," Eddie said with a small smile and held his hand out for her to shake.

Eleven looked at his hand before shaking it, giving him a small, unsure smile. Mike had told her about an older boy that had looked after him this year named Eddie

Will, Jonathan and Mike all pulled away from their hugs and looked around, a confused smile on their faces as they looked for the rest of the gang

"Where the hell is everyone?" Mike asked in confusion, "I thought at least Addy would be here helping, she's usually the first one to volunteer when someone needs help," Mike said with a small chuckle.

The group fell silent, their smiles dropping instantly as they were refilled with the pain that they had tried so hard to push away.

Dustin was the first one to break down, throwing his arms around Will again, confusing the group that had just arrived. Will wrapped his arms around him slowly, patting him on the back as he looked over at Nancy in confusion

"What's wrong?" Will asked in worry, a bad feeling beginning to dwell in the pit of his stomach as he saw the sad look on Nancys face, "where is everyone else?"

Nancy let out a shaky breath and began to explain, "Adira Uhh," she put her hands on her hips and tilted her head back to try and keep the tears at bay, biting her lip as her nostrils began to burn, "she- she didn't," no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get the words out.

The group of four that had just arrived in a pizza van all felt their hearts drop in their chests. Their smiles all dropped simultaneously as they mentally finished her sentence, connecting the dots

"No." Will said and shook his head, stumbling back a few steps, his face dropping

"Oh honey, I'm sorry," Mrs Wheeler cried out as she watched the tears pool in her sons eyes. Karen wrapped her arms around her son and pulled him into her chest, holding him tightly as he fell apart in her arms, tears pouring down his cheeks as he sobbed, "I know how much she meant to you, she was a really good kid."

Will kept shaking his head. He couldn't believe it... she was the only person that understood him, the only person that he actually felt accepted by. He was completely comfortable a round her and trusted her. And she was gone, "that's not right. There's some kind of mistake," he said, a chuckle falling from his lips as tears poured down his face, "Adira is fine. Adira can't be gone," he stuttered out

Eddie turned around in his spot and squeezed his nose tightly, trying hard not to cry. Dustin walked closer to Will, an empty feeling in his chest as he hugged Will again, "she sacrificed herself for Eddie and I... Steve hasn't left her room since and neither has Robin," Dustin explained to Will, but he said if loud enough so that everyone could hear.

Will didn't really know anything about Robin or Steve. But he couldn't doubt that Steve's world was crashing down around him right now, he imagined what it would be like to lose his brother... and personally, he didn't think that he was mentally strong enough to handle something like that

"And what about Lucas?" Eleven asked softly

"He's at the hospital," Dustin said as he pulled away from the hug. Eleven looked at Dustin in worry again

"Was he hurt?" She asked

"No no... oh god," Dustin muttered out as he realised that they didn't know about the Max situation either
