"So, all of you have already planned this.. no, tell me you informed her that brat as well right?" Mangala shouts at her daughter.
"Maa, you can't call Jaanu like that. She's not a brat." Anusha defends Janani. For Anu, Jaanu is nothing less than a soul sister. They've been together since she knew, but that fiasco made them stay away. Neither Anu nor Jaanu can hear a word against each other.
"Oh yes, she's not! But you are." Managala retorts angrily. She can't stand Savitri's family even for a second, but here her whole family wants them to be a part of her daughter's engagement.
"Mangala! Look, like Maara suggested, this function can help us reuni---
"No need. I'm not allowing those betrayers come here ever again." Managala screams on top her voice startling her whole family.
"Maa..but Anu wishes Savitri Athai's (Aunt's) family to be a part of her engagement. Please can't we just let go of our Ego for her sake?" Aadi pleads with his mother looking at his sister's pained look.
"That family is nothing but are traitors. I'm damn sure they won't wish any good for us. And I don't want my daughter's engagement to take place in the presence of them. Don't you dare invite anyone from that wretch's family. I warn you. If you go against this, then I am disowning her as my daughter." She answers Aadi gritting her teeth in extreme anger pointing her finger at Anusha.
"Mangalam! Don't ever use such heavy words for anyone ever again.! And don't forget, Savitri is my sister and the girl you are calling a wretch is my neice." Her husband warned in a lethal tone.
"Oh, so much of love for your neice? Then, what about your daughter? Don't you wish her well being? Did you forget how much we suffered because of your oh-so-lovely sister's family? Because of their wicked ploy?" Mangalam argued back without any hesitation.
"If you want to invite them, go on and do it. But remember, I won't be attending the function then." Mangalam gave an ultimatum and walked away furiously, ignoring her children's calls.
"Maa"
"Amma" Aadi and Anu called her several times but she was stubborn as a mule.
"Anna! Appa" Anu called them grabbing their attention. When they turned towards her she said in a wobbly tone-
"I.. I want my mother to attend the function. It--its fine if Athai's fam--family doesn't come. I can't anger my amma." she cried finally unable to hide it away. She was very excited to invite her Aunt's family for her function, but she knew her wishes are never meant to be fulfilled in this household.
"Dolly...don't cry. I'll convince maa somehow! Give me sometime" Aadi said trying to comfort her. He can't see tears in his sister's eyes no matter what.
Hearing him, she frantically shakes her head in a no.
"Vendam, I don't want to be the reason for your fight. If you fight for me with her, she'll feel I pit you against her. Please, don't" Anusha requested holding her brother's wrist in a firm grip. Aadi sighes in despair sensing his little sister's conflicted mind. (No need.)
"No ma. Maara is right. Don't lose hope so soon. We'll find a way out. I promise you. Savitri's family will attend this function. It's my responsibility to make it happen" Kathir assures his daughter caressing her cheeks lovingly, wiping away her tears.

"Savi!!! You know what! Our Shobi's(Anusha's) engagement is coming soon. I can't believe. She's grown too soon." Ragu exclaimed joyfully entering his house for lunch. Today, since the customers were less, he got the time to come to home for lunch.
