Two guards stood on a tower perched on a hill, both facing the forest in front of them. The blazing sun making them sweat in their armors.

"Hey." One guard spoke up.

"Yeah?" The other drolly perked up.

"You ever wonder why we're here?"

"Oh don't you start."

"I'm serious man." His companion exclaimed. "We're perched up here in a tower, in the middle of open plains for all to see, next to an orc infested forest, that could at any moment be attacked."

"What are you so afraid of man?" The other guard asked. "The orcs are too busy dealing with the nobles riding about in their territories to deal with a small lookout like ours."

"I don't know Gurif but I just don't feel comfortable with the thought of an orc raiding party just suddenly appearing out of nowhere."

"Look, Simon, I get what your saying." Gurif lazily raised an arm, pointing down at the small palisade surrounding the tower and the encampment of two dozen tents within. "But they have to be pretty fucking stupid to attack this tower that holds little value."

Simon looked down on the towers railings and peeked at the wooden walls of the encampment and the soldiers walking around then to the forest before he returned his gaze back to his fellow guard. He said. "I mean...they are pretty dumb, just like you in most days."

"...fuck you man."

As the two bickered with the other, none took notice of a small figure riding on horseback going past the tower and taking a turn on a smaller road.

'That turned out easier than I thought.' Louise mused to herself, taking a turn to a dirt path.

She had just pass a lookout a while ago and has now entered the edge of the forest through a small route less taken by any merchant caravan.

The path was mostly known to local villages in the area and the ones looking to go sightseeing, Louise was part of the latter.

However, now the local villagers have been evacuated or driven from their homes, the path was now abandoned without any to look or even know about.

'Works for me.'

Galloping at a brisk pace, Louise took to familiarizing the land. Having been months since she last went sightseeing here, even before the Barony fell, Louise still recognized enough of the land to know where she was — The Haut vert Hills.

The Haut vert Hills was a large area within the dark forest that was filled with a cluster of large vibrant green hills and even cliff faces. A great place for travelers to stop by and rest while enjoying the view from the forest. It was even a good spot for young mages to practice their magic here for it was atop a branching strand from the nearby leyline. This was why Louise chose this spot for this reason.

But the hills had little cover to them, sparring a few trees, making them less than ideal. Fortunately, Louise knows a secluded spot hidden on one of the cliff face on one of the more larger hills.

Taking a left, she turned her steed to a dirt path.

A man ran in fear as he was chased by a horde of goblins while the little greenskins let out laughs and yells. One particular goblin was larger than it's brethren and more muscled.
