Jake sat down on his couch when he got back home, Bernie lying next to him.

Jake was switching between the channels on TV trying to find something to keep him awake.

He heard a buzzing from his phone and he opened the text.

Hey! You up?

Jake remembered Rooster putting in his phone number, hoping Rooster would be the first to text.

Yeah.

Wyd?
Sent 10:44

Watching some shit thing on the TV. You?
Sent 10:45

Hanging with my cat… and texting you ;) Sent 10:45

Jake scoffed. Of course he owned a cat. The more he found out about this guy, the more he fell.

A cat? Send photo, and I'll give you something worth dying for

I took this one a few days ago but, he's cute ❤️

Jake looked at the image and smiled. He then sent a photo back.

As promised, the photo you would kill for. He's a bit young here.

Sent 10:51

Cute. You up for a call? Need something to keep me up a bit longer.
Sent 10:52

Sure!

Jake's phone started ringing.

"Hey Hangman!"

Jake liked hearing Rooster's voice.

"Please, this late at night, just call me Jake." He informed with a soft smile on his face.

"If that's so, call me Bradley."

There was a minute or two with a silence hanging over them. Jake couldn't program any words in his brain to come out of his mouth, but the silence was comfortable.

"I forgot what I was going to tell you."

Jake laughs. He starts walking towards his room.

"That's okay, Bradley. Just hearing your voice is enough."

Jake froze as he entered the room. Did he really just say that?!

Bradley laughs on the other end and Jake breathes out a sigh of relief.

"I called you to try and keep me up, y'know."

Jake raises an eyebrow at that.

"Am I doing a good job?"

"No. You're just making me tired."

Jake scoffed and took off his shirt, throwing it in the general direction away from him.

He took off his pants and slipped on a comfortable pair of shorts.

"Yeah? Well, you're doing the same for me."

A comfortable silence falls over them as Jake slips into his bed.

"What are you wearing right now?"

Jake's face goes red.

"Woah… uh uhm…. seriously?"

"Wait! I uh didn't mean it that way, oh my god. I meant it just as a conversation starter! It didn't compute through my brain that it would come off as suggestive!"

"Bradley, it's fine. But I think that means it's time to go to sleep."

"But Jake, I like talking with you. It's like there's been something missing since I moved to California, and you finally filled that missing spot."

Jake could feel his face heating up. If Bradley saw him right now, he'd probably be grossed out.

"Dude, we just met yesterday. As other people are sure to tell you, that hole will soon start to expand with me in it. Till I'm the only thing you are ever going to think about."

"I'd fucking love that."

They both laugh at Bradley's response.

"I should probably get going. I still need to wake up early in the morning."

"Let me text you my address. I'd love for you to come over."

"Alright loverman."

Bradley's laugh was addictive to Jake. The more he heard, the more he wanted.

"Bye bye Loverman."

"Goodbye Womanizer." Jake retorts.

Jake quickly hangs up, but doesn't forget to send his address.

As Jake lies in bed, he can't keep his mind off Bradley's laugh.

So what if it's what put Jake to sleep?

No one can actually prove it.
