What does every newly moved almost high school drop out tend to do their first week of college? I'm assuming hit up Frat Row, cruse the main strip of this little college town, or have a kick back with friends you've met? Well I would think that would be better than starting my first night shift on a friday night at one of three diners on said main strip.

"Irie, thank you so much for covering the rest of the night for me!" Kaylee said wrapping me in a hug. "No worries, seriously. I'm sure there will come a time when I need it returned." I said pulling away from our hug. I met Kaylee two weeks before semester started, our dorm rooms were across from each others. She actually told me about how this diner hired mainly college kids, which turned out to be true and secured me my position at Ms. Cocos diner.  I wish I could say I was chasing my dreams studying at a prestigious school. That would be a dream come true however I was helping my single father raise two younger kid since I was fourteen. The only reason I left was Liz. My fathers now wife who came in and filled the roll of mother and some how in her hippie ways made me understand there was nothing she wouldn't and couldn't do for Sage my little brother, and Piper our baby sister.

"I'll snag you some merch from the concert!" Kaylee yelled walking out the back door attached to the kitchen. Kaylee was very pretty with long dirty blonde hair, soft gray eyes, and sun kissed skin. She wasn't very tall but still taller than my 5'3. I looked in the warped mirror that us waitresses had to "primp" ourselves before hitting the floor. I threw my brown hair up in a bun, looked over my face and figured the make I put on this morning would have to hold through till ten tonight. Our uniforms consisted of a black t-shirt with "MS COCO'S on the back. We could wear jeans, leggings, or black slacks. I settle for my light wash skinnys.

"You better get going girl before anyone else decides to come in." Jarret the head line cook nodded towards the opening between kitchen and behind the counter. I glance his direction and noticed two tables. One had what seemed like a couple dining, the other three guys around my age or a little older and her girl. "Aye Aye, Captain! Fire up those grills." I saluted back while walking towards the door.  I made my way to the couple sitting together. Something i'll never personally understand is when there's two people. Wouldn't you prefer to be looking at one another instead of fighting for elbow room?  I smiled at them both walking up to the table. "Hi, I'm Irie and I'll be taking care of you tonight. Can I get you two started on some drinks?" I said looking between the two. The guy nervously smiled and pushed his glasses up his nose. "can I get a lemonade with extra ice, please." his answered with a deeper voice than I expected. "sure! and for you?" my attention turning towards the girl. She had mousy brown hair that she had in a half up half down style but very genuine blue eyes. "just a water please." she squeeked out. "Sure thing, I'll be right back and grab your order." I nodded to them with a soft smile.

I went and stopped off at the table of four preparing my introduction.  "Hey everyone, I'm Irie. What can I get you guys to drink?" I made sure to look at all of them. The first guy to the left had sandy hair that was to his shoulders and hazel eyes, strong chin and higher cheek bones. the man next to him had total skater dude vibes. shaggy brown hair, brown eyes, and a lip ring. the girl to the right had jet black hair and tiny features with her septum pierced. Her eyes were a green color and popped with how dark I'm assuming her dyed hair was. Last the guy next to her had very dark brown hair that could almost pass for black, with light hazel eyes more on the green side. He was what I would call attractive, broody look, shorter hair on the sides longer on the top at least a little longer than finger length that had a curl to it.  The girl spoke up first. "I haven't seen you before, College kid?" she asked turning her body more towards me. One thing I can say her low cut top showed her breast and she had the size for them. "yeah, just moved up here from Indiana." I answered while getting my note pad ready. "Indiana? you can all the way to Michigan for school?" long sandy hair asked. Before I could reply the good looking guy sitting next to the girl spoke up. "I'll take a vanilla coke." my eyes went to his only to discover he wasn't looking at me but looking at the menu seeming uninterested in everything else. "Sure, the rest of you?" grabbing the rest of their orders and apparently four hamburgers and fries with ranch later I came back to drop off their food. "What time do you get off? There's this bonfire in the woods if you wanted to come, make some friends and save me from this sausage fest." she asked with almost a pleading look. "um I get off at ten." the guy sitting next to sandy hair looked me up and down. "So is that a yes?" I chewed on my bottom lip and thought. Sure it could be fun but I don't know their names, or really anyone. "I uh, well I don't even know your names, I didn't drive, and I have nothing to change into. Thank you though" "Girl! we can come grab you on our way out there, I can even grab you a shirt the jeans are cute, I'm Sawyer by the way." she said. "Taylor." sandy hair said. "Levi." Lip ring said then pointed to the last guy and said. "Ezra." I looked at him again and this time he delighted me with a eye roll. "well I mean sure? Why not."
