Chapter 2: Threats and Allies

Emmet and Lucy were having an amazing day together, like they haven't been able to relax and have fun together in years. In fact, they couldn't in their dystopian Apocalypsburg, but, that was the past. Now, the two were looking towards their future.

Emmet and Lucy went to an amusement park, playing games, eating good food, winning prizes, even with Emmet putting smiles on all the little kids faces with his optimistic, and clumsy attitude. Lucy couldn't help but smile along with them. Seeing Emmet making all those kids happy just melted her heart. However, seeing him and those kids like that started to get the wheels in her head turning.

Emmet.

Those kids.

Emmet with kids.

Emmet with... His kids.

Emmet, and... Lucy's kids.

Maybe- no, that was ridiculous. Lucy loved Emmet more than anything, but, having kids? They weren't even married, let alone talking about having a child. Even if they wanted to, Emmet and Lucy both knew in their minds they were scared they would be failures, or worse, fail each other. She didn't want to keep thinking about this, but the thoughts kept Invading her head space.

"Lucy?" Emmet touched his Girlfriends shoulder. This action for a second shocked her, but calmed down when Emmet hugged her gently.

"Oh, Ems, sorry. I-I was just thinking.

Emmet was concerned, but decided to let it go. "Oh, ok, well, I'm really happy we have today to ourselves. I'm sorry if I'm being a little clumsy and... naive."

Lucy couldn't help but give Emmet a soft but warm kiss, which he carefully returned. "Babe, don't talk like that. You are those things, I'll say that, but, that's part of what makes you you. I love you Emmet, and I always will.

Emmet couldn't stop a few happy tears from falling down his face, and he gave his Girlfriend a big hug. "I love you too Lucy." He then gave her another kiss on the lips.

Lucy didn't even try to stop from giggling. "Special Best Friends?"

Emmet took Lucy's hand in his. "Foreva."

Emmet's phone suddenly began to ring. He then picked it up and answered. "Hey there guys, what's up?"

"Emmet," Queen Watevra sounded, worry in her voice. "Is Lucy still with you?"

Emmet seemed concerned. "Yeah, is everything ok?"

"Not really, we need you guys here as soon as you can get here, I already have the others with me, and my top Advisors."

"O-okay, we'll be there right away."

Lucy looked worried as Emmet put down his phone. "Ems, are you ok?"

"I'm not sure, Watevra needs us at her castle, the others are their too."

Lucy seemed annoyed. "Oh boy, this can't be good. Just as we were having fun too."

"I'm hoping this won't take long, then we can head home and relax together."

At the Queen's Palace

Emmet and Lucy finally arrived, accompanied by several guards for protection, where they were led into a war room of anything, with the Queen, her Advisors, military commanders, and all their friends around a meeting table.

"Emmet, Lucy, good to see you both."

"Of course, we're happy to help. What's up?" Lucy said, despite her day with Emmet cut short, she wanted to make sure everything was going to be alright.
