"What do you think if we talk about this specific literature and its creator tonight over a glass of wine?" asked Lysanna suddenly. This time it had taken her a lot less effort to ask him that question. Her heart pounding, she awaited an answer.

So there it was, the long-awaited opportunity. Severus still couldn't really believe that Lysanna actually wanted to spend time with him. But this invitation was more than an act of courtesy after work. It was more of a get-together among friends.

"Excellent idea," he agreed with a satisfied smile. It almost seemed as if he was finally going to be rewarded for having to spend a whole week with this conceited prat. All he had to do was survive one more night and resist the desire to just leave him bound and gagged in a broom closet.

"Don't frighten him too much, Severus! You know where to find me," Lysanna replied with a beguiling smile and a wink, before getting up and leaving the great hall..

"Gilderoy, if you would be so kind as to save her exceedingly interesting tales for your fans," Severus hissed at his companion. He really had to restrain himself to keep calm.

"Certainly, we can change to a topic that suits you more. So, how exactly did you manage that our esteemed Lysanna seemingly doesn't want to attack you right away. Not that I mind if you... well you know what I mean. A truly beautiful woman, isn't she? It's almost impossible to imagine her with..." Lockhart went on, undeterred.

What was he even thinking, talking about Lysanna like that?! Wasn't it enough that day after day he tried to undress her with his eyes? There was no question that Lysanna was extraordinarily beautiful, but the way Lockhart talked about her was simply disrespectful.

"Enough!" he hissed, inwardly seething with anger.

"Nana, Severus! Don't you be so grumpy all the time. What's wrong with two old friends telling each other some tales?" Lockhart retorted while wearing that disgusting grin. He had definitely gone too far. Severus was completely fed up with this disrespect. Before Lockhart could realise it, he had grabbed him by the collar and was pinning him roughly against the wall. Amused, Severus noticed that Lockhart was not only trembling with fear, but also had dropped his wand on the floor. Pathetic.

"I would recommend you better think twice about who you are messing with...Gilderoy. It seems to me as if it has escaped your notice that neither I nor Lysanna fall for your fairy tales." He hissed at him angrily and released him with a disdainful look.

"S..S..Severus. S..I didn't mean it like that. No.. No need to make threats like that, is there?" Lockhart stuttered insecurely. Severus felt nothing more than disdain for this man who ducked pitifully from under him in fear. He said nothing, just fixed him with his eyes. This had often proved to be significantly more effective. Frightened, Lockhart crawled around on the floor, looking for his wand.

Severus turned away, leaving Lockhart alone, declaring tonight's patrol to be over.

Lysanna looked up from her book in surprise when there was a knock on her door. It was still before midnight, too early for Severus, but who else would knock on her door at this hour.

A little insecure, she approached the door and carefully opened it just a crack.

The dark eyes and the admittedly rather annoyed look gave Lysanna certainty. Severus. But why was he so early?

"Come in, Severus. I wasn't expecting you so soon, but.. please." Lysanna offered with a friendly smile as she opened the door fully.

"Thank you, Lysanna. I am afraid that if I had come any later, Albus might have had to find a replacement for Defence Against the Dark Arts." Severus explained his early arrival.
