i forced my eyes open, blinking slowly as i began to wake up. i sat up against the bed frame stretching my arms out to full extent.

i felt gross

i wiped my eyes and threw the soft comforters off my body, and instantly felt a cold breeze hit my bare skin.

i loved sleeping in the cold.. until it was time to wake up.

i washed my face, then made my way into the kitchen attempting to fill the empty void grumbling inside me.

"i'll feed you soon." i pouted, rubbing my stomach.

i really needed to go shopping.

there was nothing in the fridge but eggs, water and left over chinese food.. from about a week ago.

i picked up the container and smelled it. and it absolutely reeked. the smell was horrid. maybe it was in there for more than just a week

coffee and eggs it is.

i turned the stove on and sprayed the pan before putting the eggs on and just as i did my phone began ringing

"hii my love." she squealed. zara.

my best friend since second grade. she was a handful but that's what i loved about her. i remember thinking about how id make her my friend when i first met her.

"hey." i mixed up the eggs

"how are you? you okay? cus you just be disappearing on me like you casper the friendly fucking ghost."

i laughed in response.

"you're at home aren't you?"

"zara where else would i be at seven in the morning."

"girl you're always at home. you need to get out and get you some coochie." i chuckled.

"it's seven in the morning." i reminded her.

"it's never too early to get laid and.. i called you so i could convince you to come out with me tonight." i could feel her smiling.

"you're always at home, you need to get out. all them letters messing with ya brain. next thing you know you gone be seeing letter and words flying around."

i was seeing and feeling things that weren't there but they were definitely not letters. i couldn't put a define to it.

"you didn't even have to ask. ill come but don't leave me by myself to talk to some random ass man."

"never. men ain't shit any ways." i turned the eye off and put on my coffee.

eventually, everything was ready. i carried everything to the table and began eating staring out the window.

dreaming into endless space.

you see, i live in a penthouse, one many floors from the ground. the wall in front of the dining table was purely glass.

which i oh so loved, especially on rainy days. it was always so calming. it allowed my mind to escape reality.

it was my first and only off day of the week and i had nothing planned. only to assist zara tonight.

i've only really had one to two solid off days since my promotion. it was a bit tiring at first but being a writer adapts you to a ruined sleep schedule.
