(3rd Person Perspective)
"Come out, Merasmus!"
The popcorned aggressive questions floated through the air as the foggy night smog shrouded a man in a black robe. He had to get the nine men off his trail. But how? His eyes widened as he came up with an idea. He had to get the men cornered in one place. Peeking from his hiding place, he found that that would be no hard feat.
The armed men had found themselves in an alleyway, still looking for the robed man as he stepped out, lime green magic particles extruding from his hands. He lifted up his hands and recited a phrase.
"Expellam ad novam rem!"
He threw his hands down and lime green colouration engulfed the nine confused and angry men.
"Damn you, Mera-"
As quickly as the magic engulfed them, the colours consumed them and, in an instant, they were gone.
The robed man wiped his hands on the skirt of his robe, chuckling lightly to himself before walking away to his own devices.
The nine confused men woke in a new place. It was unfamiliar to them, yet they knew exactly the room they were in.
"A dressing room?" The youngest of them asked, turning his angled face to the others. They just shrugged and looked around more at their surroundings.
The youngest's attention turned to a device at the top of the room, pointing at it somewhat excitedly.
"Look, he put on a movie for us!"
The shortest of them all tilted his head, letting the hard hat he was wearing swivel with his movements.
"That ain't a movie. That there's live feed. We must be in some kind of theatre."
The youngest hopped to his feet, clutching his hands to his hips.
"Well, we should watch this thing!"
All the men nodded in agreement, sitting down on the bench in the room, keeping their eyes on the screen of the somewhat large television with rapture as the largest man in the group turned off the lights as to make for a theatre-like atmosphere, mimicking the dimming lights of the house in the theatre.
The soft music started as the men watched with interest. Their eyes widened when a woman with her back turned to them was revealed by the lights, but it shook them to the core to find that she had no head. They all seemed to tilt their heads simultaneously as a beautiful yet ethereal voice echoed throughout the theatre.
I know this dream of life is never-ending~
It goes around and round and round again~
Her hands moved in front of where her face would be, showing that her head wasn't concealed, it wasn't there. The men gasped slightly in shock as the song continued.
You know the sun is rising while descending~
It goes on and on and never ends~
The lights faded back to black and the men found themselves entranced by this mystery woman.
They soon found themselves hearing a peppy tune while the other characters sang about their hometown, but it soon melted and gave way to a tragic tale of a roller coaster accident told by the mouth of a wizard. The men could feel their spirits moved by the sad story and feel shivers down their spines as they heard eerie vocals in the back led by the same voice they heard before.
Soon, they were introduced to the familiar voice from before, this time, she had a head. She looked like a doll and acted like a doll, tilting her head and moving like she had joints made of plastic. She gave a heartbreaking speech about what had happened to her, her blank expression keeping an ethereal air about her as the plot advanced.
The nine men found themselves subconsciously looking for the woman as the musical continued, listening to her beautiful, ethereal voice melt into the different music styles, some like a dirge, some bright and peppy, others that could not be explained.
Finally, there was a solo just for the mystery woman, the nine men keeping their eyes on her as she sang her song, the high notes sending shivers down tne mens' spines, but it really shocked them when she began to fly around on stage and spin in the air like a spirit.
The musical ended on a somewhat majour note, with the last song being about the inevitability of mortality, but we must press on and keep our chins up, keeping our mindsets positive as we live our lives. The nine men clapped and cheered for the actours, but they all knew they were clapping mostly for one person.
Her.
"Damn... Her voice was so damn beautiful."
The shortest of the group took off his hard hat, pulling up his goggles and letting them rest on his head.
The masked one clapped its hands joyously and mumbled enthusiastically.
"Hoo-ah," the one in the helmet vocalized.
The youngest smiled widely, his blue eyes sparkling.
"Aye, the lass is beautiful," the one with the eyepatch slurred slightly.
The largest of the men stayed silent due to lack of words. He was speechless; he didn't know what to say.
"Very nice vocal cords..." the man in the lab coat whispered to himself before the man with the sideburns slapped his arm gently as to remind him of just where he was.
The man with the balaclava took in another draw of his cigarette. He couldn't say anything. How was he supposed to? All of the woman's beautiful singing was leaving him absolutely flabbergasted.
The youngest lept to his feet, chuckling loudly.
"Imagine if she walks in right now. That would be kinda funny."
