Winter Poetry Contest 2022- Fourth Entry

Topic: Soul fragment

A part of that person's energy is thrown away and now exists separately from or independent from that person

Poem:

I gaze at the grave scenery unfolding

Near where I roam since my passing

As two attacking armies have a clash

The soldiers tirelessly shoot and slash

Let me introduce myself properly first

I'm a soul fragment having huge thirst

For peace, for harmony, for humanity

I'm myself a remnant of this calamity

I stopped breathing at a fenced border

That was two rival kingdom's separator

On battlefield broke my oath to family

Didn't return back happily after victory

Now can only watch paralyzed as more

Soldiers break their oath in this gore

More families loose loved like my own

More heroes turn like me in this zone

Wish I can let out a deafening scream

Say lets not kill more, forget this dream

It only promises death and destruction

Without reaching a definite conclusion

But alas! I'm just an abandoned soul

No one can see me cry out or scowl

Cursed to stare at soil that bleeds red

More and more living fall down dead

One side ends up winning over other

But loss just slightly less than looser

No one can bring those poor fighters

Soldiers live like a bomb with timers

I place my invisible wreaths and flowers

Stand staring at tombstones for hours

The King later had a war memorial built

It can't reverse the blood and tears spilt
