VERA

Looking in the mirror, I stare at my reflection. I'm always told I look beautiful, but it isn't like I can realize what it is that others see. Staring back at me, I see a girl who's fighting to stay afloat in her own mind, fighting the dark demons from within. I don't see the young woman who has overcome many obstacles, suffering from heartbreak and mental health, all while continuing to push myself to continue with life.

Coming back to reality, I walk to my closet and pull on the knee length dress that I chose. Sliding my hands down the dress, I can't help but to feel like a princess in it. The tulle at the bottom makes the dress poofy and it just makes me so happy.

The dress is an emerald green color with a leaf design from my chest down past my waist. Thin spaghetti straps made it difficult to find the perfect bra, but at this point, I simply don't give a damn. Stepping into my bathroom, I quickly wet my hair in the sink and grabbed my makeup bag from the cabinet.

Removing the towel from my head, I put some leave-in conditioner, curl boss gel, and don't shrink gel into my hair. Running my brush through my hair, I get every tangle out, even if it makes me wince as I do it. Feeling satisfied with it, I twist a small part and pin it to the rest of my hair with some flower hairpins I came across.

I decided to do an emerald smokey eye with gold eyeliner, applying a little mascara to my eyelashes. Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I put lip gloss on my lips and smile at the person I see staring back at me, an older version of myself.

As I'm stepping into my closet, Raelyn is sitting on my desk chair while Aspen is stretched out across my bed. Their bags are next to the door with their dresses on hangers, I'm guessing their shoes may be in the bags too?

I chuckle as Aspen exclaims. "V, you look absolutely fucking drop-dead gorgeous girl. Teach me your ways!" Raelyn nods in agreement.

"Hey V, do you mind if I use your bathroom to finish up my makeup? I know your bathroom is so much better than mine, so I'm using it anyway." Aspen gets up and walks into my bathroom.

"Well, just go ahead, make yourself at home." Stepping into my glittery gold heels, I strap them on and try to adjust to the additional height.

Raelyn walks over to me and places her hands on my shoulders. "You look like a princess, Vera. I love you." She hugs me and I return the hug as tears prickle my eyes. Thank heaven for waterproof makeup. "I love you too Rae, thank you."

Aspen steps out and grabs her dress bag, pulling her dress out and stepping into it. Hers is black, a convenient color for her type of personality. There is a glittery detail to the bust of the dress, falling right at her knees. She then pulls on her silver heels and zips them up.

Aspen decided to do silver shimmery eyeshadow, lining her eyes with eyeliner and mascara. She decided on simply curling her already wavy hair. I smile at her and give her a hug, to which she lightly pats my back as she hugs me back. "You look beautiful Asp, I love this whole fit on you, it fits you."
