Alex: Hey babygirl, how are you doing today? Sorry I haven't been texting much. Work has been crazy and they have me working late shifts. I hope everything is okay.
A smile slides onto my face as I read the sweet message.
Me: Hey babe, I'm doing fine, a little tired but I'm all good. And it's okay, I understand that your job is very important. I hope you're getting enough sleep! Does this interfere with our plans next week?
The message is marked as read.
Alex: We should be set. I already have bought my ticket and I'm setting things up for the airport arrival.
Me: Do you need me to come pick you up from the airport? You know I don't mind and it gives us more time together.
He responds in less than a minute. No, I have things covered, you don't have to worry about it. It's fine.
I send back an okay and look out of the window as we go past rocky mountains and bright green grass. Mom pulls into the driveway and we both hop out, making sure to grab our bags of things that we bought. She walks up to the door and unlocks it, opening and holding it open for me to walk in.
"Thanks mom, Alex just texted and said our plans are set. He'll be flying in in 1 week so we can spend time together before homecoming." She nods her head and sits her bags down.
"That's fine with me, just make sure that he's being truthful about this and don't get your heart completely set on things." I look at her. "I'm not mom, I'm not getting my hopes up that much. I just want us to spend time together." I take my bags to my room and start hanging up the clothes I got, setting a few of the Bath and Body Works stuff on my desk.
I remember to shoot a text to Fridays Guy because I had already read his message.
Me: It's no problem! I didn't want you thinking I was ignoring you or anything. My name is Vera.
He reads my message and texts back.
Fridays Guy: Hiya Vera, my name is Luca.
I decided to grab a book and start reading a little bit to get time to pass by quickly. Running my finger tip over the spines of all my books on my bookshelf, I decide on The QB Bad Boy and Me. One of my favorite books of all time, Tay is so talented and I adore her so much! Opening the book and grabbing one of my pretty bookmarks, I lay down on my bed and start reading page one.
Before I know it, my phone says it's 7:30 PM. I know time flies when you're having fun, but I didn't expect it to fly that quickly. "V, are you ready for dinner? I ordered some pizza. Oh, and Raelyn is here. She wants to talk to you."
I groan and roll off my bed, slipping my phone into my back pocket and setting my book on my desk. Walking towards the kitchen, I see Raelyn chowing down on some pepperoni pizza. The girl is tiny, I have no damn idea how, she eats just as much as I do. "Hey V, how are you feeling? I'm sorry for Aspen, you know she means well."
I shrug and grab two slices of cheese pizza, getting a glass for some sweet tea as well. "It is what it is. I'm fine, just went out with mom for the day. Are you staying over tonight?"
Her face lights up. "I thought you'd never ask, of course I am. I have my bag in the living room." I glance at her. "Did you really come packing? Damn girl! You're turning into me."
A while later, we're settled on the couch with our comfy pajamas on and the latest episode of Grey's Anatomy is about to end. "V, do you always watch this medical drama shit?" I gasp and stare at her wide-eyed. "Rae, how DARE you call Grey's Anatomy MEDICAL DRAMA SHIT? This is the best show there is."
She shakes her head and laughs. "No, Chicago Med is better. Anything is better than this." I roll my eyes. "No. Grey's Anatomy is the best of the best. What else do you want to watch?" She hops up and looks at our display of DVDs. "How about... 47 Meters Down?"
"Uh, duh! Of course, let's watch it." She puts the DVD in the player and I switch the TV over to the movie setting. I jump up and pop some popcorn, filling two bowls and running back to the couch with some drinks. I press play and the movie starts as mom comes into the living room and joins us.
We finished the movie around 10:00 PM, since we had to keep pausing the movie when Raelyn dropped her bowl of popcorn and the next time, she spilled her drink. I managed to keep my popcorn in the bowl and my tea lasted all of like.. 30 minutes.
"Vera." I look up. "Yes Rae." She wiggles her eyebrows. "Magic Mike XXL time?" Mom starts hooting and hollering. "Oh HELL YES. Let me see Michael Strahan." I laugh out loud and agree. Mom jumps off the couch and puts the movie in after taking 47 Meters Down out.
Channing Tatum pops up on the screen and I instantly start drooling. "Whatta man, whatta man, what a mighty good man." Mom laughs at me. "Girllll, just you wait. Michael is my MAN." Raelyn just looks over at us. "Alright alright alrightttt ladies, Matthew McConaughey is the SHIT."
Channing... He just does something to me. I love the man!
After what seems like hours of watching beautiful strippers on this absolutely amazing movie, we've finished our all time favorite movie.
Mom looks over at Rae and I. "Alright girlies, I'm going to head to bed. After all that excitement, my ass is whooped!" We both nod and I kiss her cheek while saying goodnight. After she heads to her room, I look over at Rae as she looks down at her phone with a smile on her face.
"Rae, what are you staring at?" She looks at me. "Kai has been texting me, he sent a picture and let me just say... Wow." I look at her wide-eyed and nod. "Alrightttt then, well I think I'm going to head to bed. Are you coming or are you staying up?" She grabs her phone and empty bowl, going into the kitchen to dump kernels into the trash and sitting the bowl in the sink. "Yep, let's go."
I make sure the door is locked and turning the TV off after placing my bowl in the sink, grabbing my phone and turning off all of the lights. Walking into my room, I see that Raelyn has set up her phone on her charger while playing some game. I pull my comforter and covers back, plugging my phone in and slipping into my bed after turning the bedroom light off.
"Goodnight Rae, I hope you get to sleep well. See you in the morning."
She glances over at me. "Goodnight V, sleep well and get plenty of rest!"
Just as I'm drifting off to sleep, I hear my phone vibrate; but I fall asleep before I can look over to see who it was.
